Apparently it runs OK on the P4i945GC with latest BIOS. It does not seem to have any special microcode, the CPU identifies as normal P4 3.4. This guy had the SL7QB, 3.2GHz version of the same chip: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewt...=192944#192944

      Legacy CSM on new laptops?
      by zungu
      Hello,

Since 2020, Intel provides UEFI 3.0 bioses without legacy CSM support. It means that for example, Dell does not provide anymore laptops since the xx80 series with Bioses including full legacy CSM support, but only with UEFI (some still provide legacy for USB only). It's true since 2019/2020 with Dell.
I REALLY want full legacy support CSM (not with limited usb only), so I wonder if new dell bioses of laptops sold in 2021/2022 can be modded to get full legacy support.
If it's not possible with dell, do you know if there is still a brand providing new laptops...

Gutless, not bloated, killer, and should be hall of shame POS
      by eccerr0r
Introducing... the POS-124Z which really is a POS:

      Yep it's a POS allright.

I tried powering it up. It's a KILLER - not fried, but sure will fry things! I got 21V out of it unloaded according to my DMM!

I tried 21W load (car lamp) - got 16V, which is really pushing that lamp.

Then I tried a 50W load (car headlight) - got 13.2V. Not too bad but this is with the heavy load...except the circuit breaker kept tripping.

So I had to take a peek:

EIEW. Looks like a Darlington emitter follower + Zener device. Heatsinking?...

Looking for a new laptop 2024 with CSM legacy support
      by zungu
Hello, I know that since 2020, intel and others phased out support of CSM/Legacy. Since then we find computers with UEFI only, 3.0 or 3.0+. For some reasons (I'm aware of UEFI advantages, GPT, secure boot etc. - not the question) I'm looking for a NEW laptop with CSM/legacy support. Desktop is easier to find, but laptop.. did not find one, or the info is not available. I suppose, I may be wrong, that some, a few, AMD cpu based laptops may still offer this possibility (Intel removed everything it seems). OR, just my thought, maybe BIOS Legacy CSM is still here, but hidden in menus, no access unless...

Z690P WIFI D4 need to split BIOS file
      by MrBojangles
This motherboard has the unfortunate thing where it splits the Bios file into one 16 Mb part and 8 Mb backup and I still don't know how to perform the split.

I don't know if the procedure is specific to this board or if there is a general rule on how to do this. I would appreciate if someone could do it for me. Thanks ...
