Hello, I know that since 2020, intel and others phased out support of CSM/Legacy. Since then we find computers with UEFI only, 3.0 or 3.0+. For some reasons (I'm aware of UEFI advantages, GPT, secure boot etc. - not the question) I'm looking for a NEW laptop with CSM/legacy support. Desktop is easier to find, but laptop.. did not find one, or the info is not available. I suppose, I may be wrong, that some, a few, AMD cpu based laptops may still offer this possibility (Intel removed everything it seems). OR, just my thought, maybe BIOS Legacy CSM is still here, but hidden in menus, no access unless a mod bios. Please, please, would you know an answer to my question? Thank you sooo much. Since 2020, Intel provides UEFI 3.0 bioses without legacy CSM support. It means that for example, Dell does not provide anymore laptops since the xx80 series with Bioses including full legacy CSM support, but only with UEFI (some still provide legacy for USB only). It's true since 2019/2020 with Dell.
I REALLY want full legacy support CSM (not with limited usb only), so I wonder if new dell bioses of laptops sold in 2021/2022 can be modded to get full legacy support.
If it's not possible with dell, do you know if there is still a brand providing new laptops...12-16-2022, 08:01 AM -
