The P7350 has slightly higher performance, while using less power, but is not upgradable/replaceable as while the AMD being a socketed chip is. Aside from being a non-replaceable BGA chip the Intel is a better chip in all other regards.

Welp, Intel has been absurd with some things, in 2013, their arrogance with the release of Ivy Bridge. Seemed that they didn't want to give a shit about a stock CPU reaching 85 C!

Ivy Bridge was when Intel used paste for the head spreader TIM. And even the Core i5s and i7s had paste for the heatspreader TIM, IIRC...

But, Intel seemed to turn things around with Haswell...

But, Intel seemed to regress again in 2015, with the Skylake release... I just hope that Intel didn't make a first-gen-Pentium-like-mistake with Skylake!
There's still a possibility that Intel's required to recall all Skylake processors!

intel recently made a bridge chip that slowly burned out it's sata interface - and only told the tier-1 customers (laptop / mobo makers)

Thanks guys, isn't the Presario CQ60n Celeron Intel too? it has a stick that says Intel Celeron inside.

Yes, specifically it is an old slow single core Celeron (Celeron 900), that would have very limited use today.

If the AMD has DDR-2 SDRAM, go for the AMD.
If not, look for something else...

I know several years back there was the cougar point recall due to SATA interface issues. My buddy at the time got a pretty slick ASUS gaming laptop out of that mess (what he used his refund money for; the recalled laptop was a HP in his case).

                    ---

I've personally had better luck with Intel but AMD makes a good product too. In this case I'd go Intel but depending on what you're doing one might be able to get a newer/faster system (laptop, AIW, whatever these chips are actually in) for not much more. Core 2 Laptops hold their own for normal stuff and YouTube, but don't hold monetary value nearly as well (not that I care, I still have a few myself).

Re: Which of these machines would you favour?

Unless you plan on replacing the CPU, I would take Intel.
All AMD laptop chips I've encountered were pure crap. Haven't seen anything higher-end from AMD for a while in both desktop and laptop fronts (except for some crazily overclocked old cores, which run hot enough to double as a heater). For me AMD is mostly for budget desktop and gaming builds.
Maybe those new Zen chips will be somewhat more competitive, but I doubt it.
The only thing I like about AMD is them bundling pretty decent GPUs even with their lower-end APUs. Intel only does that on their high-end chips.

IIRC, it was Sandy Bridge (and it was back in 2011). And they've resolved the issue with a newer stepping.

Yup, Cougar Point chipset which was for Sandy Bridge, fixed by a new stepping. 2011 (or late 2010?) sounds right, as it was during the 2011 FIRST season (early 2011) that the guy swapped laptops due to the recall.

Looking at the specs comparison, personally I would be tempted by the Intel.

Thanks guys, well i decided to keep both cause i also like the Amd too, sent for 4gb mem ram, on the HP Intel i have Win 10,on the Amd i installed Ubuntu 16.04,and both perform equally, and i don't like much to give away my electronics dumpster finds.

Just as the title states. Two cheap SiS machines, surprisingly stable.

What I will tackle in the near future (the build will be slightly postponed due to slight stomach issues - am still recovering and my physical power (sorry if it sounds weird,English isn't quite my primary language) isn't the best at the moment. Especially with the diet I have to take at the moment.) are two SiS based machines.

The first one is a IPC rebranded Mitac 7521T. Why did I feel the need to tackle this machine? Well, just look at the specs:

A non-profit with which I'm affiliated typically sells pallets (50-100 machines) of machines in single lots. This helps get rid of lots of machines with very few transactions!

Unfortunately, there is a limit to the number of folks willing to shell out a couple of grand at a time for a "lot".

So, they are looking into selling individual machines on-line (CL, eBay, etc.).

As this increases the effort required "per machine", I'm looking for ways to trim that effort back to as little as possible.

I see a machine as existing...

I did a search and found a list of the following alternative lightweight browsers: UR Browser,
K-Meleon, Midori, Pale Moon and MaxThon 5.

I have visited all the websites. Midori and Pale Moon are available as binaries in Debian and Ubuntu flavours. Looks like the distro of choice for these is Xubuntu. You use Terminal commands to download the repositories. Has anyone tried this and what was the experience like? Is it likely one can stream HTML5 on 32-bit single core machines like Socket A or dual...
