Re: XP SP3 Network Install.
I've done a lot with slipstreaming, customized bootable OS installs, SLIC, pre-activation, a LOT!!! of troubleshooting issues (like Windows Updates not working on customers PCs.) I wonder if that was somehow affecting my returns on my wife's Windows 10 laptop that I'm using.-- Law of Expanding Memory: Applications Will Also Expand Until RAM Is FullComment

Re: XP SP3 Network Install.
What was your search query? I've used Windows XP SP3 Network Install, Windows XP SP3, kb936929 and "WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe". It wasn't until I went to my Linux box that I found it in the first 10 results. I remember something a long time ago about Google having an option to remember your previous search results and try to give you search returns based on your previous searches. I wonder if that somehow got turned back on.

Re: XP SP3 Network Install.
Thank's Sparkey55. Definitely something going on here. First ten results are mostly .Net Framework 4.5 and some technet downloads. Absolutely no workable SP3 download links, and no MajorGeek sites listed. Once I get out of the shower, I'll give it a shot on my Linux box and see if it gives me the proper links. This leads me to believe that Google might be returning search results based on my previous search queries. I was looking for a .NET Framework 4.5 redistributable maybe a week ago or so for a customer.-- Law of Expanding Memory: Applications Will Also Expand Until RAM Is FullComment

Re: XP SP3 Network Install.
You're right though, if you know how to word things, generally, you can find what you're looking for. For example, in google, something like C Programming x >> 18 might not get you much but C programming bitwise operators will!-- Law of Expanding Memory: Applications Will Also Expand Until RAM Is FullComment

Re: XP SP3 Network Install.
Have you ever played around with pre-activation? If they ever shut down the activation servers and if you can't activate over the phone line pre-activation can come in real handy. A lot of times, when I redo a system that has 7 on it, I'll just put a fresh copy of 7 on the PC and use the pre-activation key that the company used when they installed the OS at the factory. Saves me the time of having to call Microsoft to activate 7 all the time.
I used to do it with XP back in the day.-- Law of Expanding Memory: Applications Will Also Expand Until RAM Is FullComment

Re: XP SP3 Network Install.
Yeah, but I don't think I can legally put that on customers PCs. The way I do it, I'm not breaking any laws or anything. At least not in Microsoft's eyes. They sent me a white paper a while back about it and everything. I think with the TechNet ISOs, you're not supposed to put them on other people's PCs, just the ones you own.-- Law of Expanding Memory: Applications Will Also Expand Until RAM Is FullComment

by howardc64Fixed a 9 year old UN55JU650 by replacing backlight. Original backlight LED was still working after 27k! hours but terrible picture of course. Few LEDs were out, 5-6 lens fell off (bright white spots) and another few popped off with slightest force. Surviving LEDs were all slightly blue so picture has a blue tint.

by japlyticIn a Beelink GTR mini PC, mine has an Intel AX200NGW WLAN module.
Tried (only with keyboard/mouse connected):- BIOS + database update
- Using latest Windows 11 image built with official image creation tool
- Previous setup version for Windows 11 installer
- Replacing SSD without a slow block (the previous SSD had a slow block with access time > 500 mS)
- TPM reset (worked to the point where DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG error message is displayed briefly after the point of stalling)
- Disabling power to WLAN and LAN modules in BIOS (Advanced > AMD PBS > PCI Express Configuration)

by davgI just bought a new ThinkPad laptop and I need to connect it to my home network. I have several computers on my network and can see each other in File Explorer and the older ones can communicate with each other (even with the new one) but the ThinkPad can see the other computers but can't communicate with them. I get the (network error 0x80070035 The network path not found). I tried several scenarios that I found on line but none of them worked?? Since the other computers on the network can communicate fine I'm assuming the problem is with the setup of the ThinkPad? All computers are running Windows...

by japlyticI noted that a number of consumer entertainment devices have the maximum speed marked on the wired network port and considering that there are broadband plans faster than 100 Mbit, the wired network port can be a bottleneck since some routers do not have Gigabit (only 100 Mbit) support for the WAN port let alone the wired network ports.
One other thing: Certain low cost network cables only have two pairs which limits speed to 100 Mbit.-
