After I installed Windows 10, I checked the Privacy options, including turning off "Let apps access my calendar".
Later, when I tried to set up my email with Windows Mail, I found that I can send messages but cannot receive messages, despite carefully checking my account settings.
When I toggled the Sync option for email in the account settings, the virus scanner (AVG) indicated that a scan of emails was occurring, but the Sync option would not retain its setting; so I looked up the sync setting for Windows Mail online and tried turning on the "Let apps access my calendar" option, and I can now receive email through Windows Mail.
Initially, I thought that app access to the calendar would typically not be required for email; at the time, I had no intention of using the calendar.
