    Auto MAC Address Rotater

For Christmas, I want Santa to bring me one. I have SMAC and can spoof my MAC manually, but if one is good, 12,000 is better, and so why not have a new MAC address every time the computer reboots? Or it changes at midnight every night?

Second, how about a browser, or browser extension that rotates the fields the browser sends to the website server, so that the browser fingerprint changes at "x" intervals (every boot, every day, every website, every web page, etc...)

Maybe a "super browser" that holds IE, Chrome and Mozilla windows tabs so that every time you click a new tab, one of those three browsers launches, but with it's fingerprints obscured so that each tab looks like it's coming from a completely different computer. But they'll all be the same IP Address.

Which brings me to another smoldering idea, which is IP Address cooperatives, where you either sell or trade access through your computer & ISP. Maybe spammers, maybe not. Maybe just simple browsers that don't want to have their home computer and ISP associated with their browsing destinations. Maybe have a meter, so that as people connect via your computer, charges are tallied. 5 cents a minute? I'm sure there would be lots of ghetto people that would like to earn "passive income" from allowing strangers to surf the internet through their computer. Plus, the more common the practice is, the harder it is for law enforcement to make the argument that they know it was you at this website on this day and at this time with this IP address and with this browser fingerprint, because it's possible that it was someone else computing remotely through your computer.

And no, you DON'T have any records of that activity. However you do know the name of the software that was installed on your computer. Heck, EVERYONE knows the name of "software X".

What if Limewire paid you to let people browse the internet through your computer. Urban ghetto denizens would be all over it, like tomorrow.

    Re: Auto MAC Address Rotater

The MAC changing will confuse the router, but there's no reason why not, unless your ISP tracks computers used at your site by number of MACs allocated via DHCP.

And "remote sharing" your internet: Isn't this sort of what Tor https://www.torproject.org does except without the fees?

The router will simply see a new device and adapt. Can't see why an ISP would care how many new devices you introduce to your network. The point of the remote computer idea was to incentivize it, and pay people based on (probably bandwidth) usage. Tor is a PITA and slow. Volunteers that do it for free, compared to those that are paid. When the system is paid you can establish minimum standards for ping, throughput, etc... Also the anonymity of Tor is via onion routing, which really is "true" anonymity, whereas this idea is striving for "plausible deniability" as well as giving a measure of protection for everyone, even those that aren't involved. Forces law enforcement off the idea that if a computer with a specific IP did x, y and z online, it may not have actually been you. Parallel to the idea that if someone was illegally uploading a copyright file from a particular IP Address, one explanation might be that your wireless network was hacked and it was someone else. This type of "hack" is voluntary, and you get paid, but still affords a defense in court.

Lost MAC Address After BIOS Rewrite – Need Help Restoring on HP 800 G1 SFF
        by jjkevi
        Hi everyone,

I’ve run into an issue with my HP 800 G1 Small Form Factor PC after performing a BIOS rewrite. Everything works except for one major problem — the MAC address for the onboard network adapter is missing.

        Here’s the situation:
        • Model: HP 800 G1 SFF
        • OS: Windows 10 Pro
        • Cause: After rewriting the BIOS, the system lost its original MAC address.
        • Symptoms:
          • Network adapter shows a generic or invalid MAC (or sometimes blank).
          • No Ethernet connectivity unless I use an external USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
        • What I’ve tried:
          • Checked BIOS settings (no MAC override

Need Help Restoring BIOS and MAC Address for HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF
        by ianasystems
        Hello,

I'm currently dealing with a BIOS corruption issue on my HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF desktop PC.

After the BIOS got corrupted, my PC was showing no display, and I had to take it to a repair shop where the technician removed the BIOS chip from the motherboard and installed a BIOS I provided from a file I downloaded from the official HP website.

While the display issue was fixed and the system is powering up again, there's one major problem: the Ethernet MAC address is now showing as FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF, indicating that it's been wiped or corrupted as well....

Lenovo G50-80 Auto Power On when AC is detected
        by classicandy
        Hi Everyone,

I have a Lenovo G50-80 that auto powers On when AC (Charger) is connected. I have checked the BIOS settings and there is no option to turn On or Off that feature as it is in some HP EliteBooks. I did update the BIOS and still same.

I then flashed the BIOS with a different bin file I downloaded here, It worked (didn't auto power on) for some time (after testing up to 5 times) but has now started again to auto power on when AC is connected.

The CMOS battery voltage is 3v. I have also tested with two main batteries as well. I would be glad if anyone...
