Roku/XMBC etc. Something to cut the cable cord

Hi not sure if this is appropriate area. I am looking to get rid of my cable/satellite bill. Does anyone have any suggestions of some easy way to do this?

    Thanks.

We cut the cord last year and haven't looked back. We kept our internet and got a roku with netflix. I built a four bay antena I saw on youtube and put it outside. We don't live too far from Tulsa and are on top of a hill so we get plenty of channels. The picture quality is very good. We also use a couple of mohu brand antenas in the bedrooms.

I "cut the cord" 90%, but still have local basic cable ($11/month) for the OTA air stuff, because my house is completely surrounded by 80+ft tall trees, and I can't really get OTA using even super-good antennas. Every time the wind blows, the signal blips.

I also use an older PC tower (Core2Quad, 8GB, 1TB hdd, HDMI), with Windows 7. I prefer the website functionality of HBOGo/Netflix/Amazon/XFinity to any of their apps, so it was a simple choice. I also use a usb "air mouse" (like a wii controller, with a full keyboard) as the remote.

The only issue we've had is making Windows 7 usable from the couch. Still a little clunky, which is where XBMC/other excel, but the issue I had with XBMC is its lack of support for simple website based streaming (such as XFinity).

Hi Guys: i cut the cord long time ago maybe 6 years or so ago and like most folks here i installed an outdoor antenna for locals also installed a 36"satellite dish for free of air FTA most off galaxy 97w i have an HD satellite receiver with HD tuner for OTA local channels, and have A PC Intel I5 with an HD video card and a 42'' LCD TV,and i subscribed for broad band ''Premiumsports.com'',Sporttv Americas for 150bucks a year to watch Portuguese Liga Sagres my favor soccer team from Portugal,
besides that use othe streaming site to watch games from English league,French ,Spanish and so on ,also installed XBMC for movies,.

some people say they get this site and pay 25 bucks for this WOWtv to get all kinds of chan from all over the world, but i don't think this is legit, some people say they've got a Roku box with this WOWtv Channel and subscribe,
