TBH postscript is just another language. It's more likely the people who used macs were more into developing the better layout software. I think today it's parity and only reason to get apple is to be locked into their ecosphere (yes, after the Apple II which didn't have postscript, I have no love for macintosh.)

people used Apple back then because you paid for the support.
you used to be able to walk into any apple store and they treated you like a boss,
no asking to see a receipt or trying to fuck you over!
Radio Shack had similar customer service.

        times change though.

Intel iMacs, 3rd party SSD failures and Fusion setups
          by reformatt
I thought I'd throw out some of my personal experiences in the last 12 months with Intel iMacs, 2.5" SATA SSD drives and Fusion drive data recoveries.

As a backgrounder, Apple never fitted a 2.5" SSD's to these iMacs. Apple's SSD option was a system of 32GB NVMe blade drive (NGFF connector) and Seagate 1TB 2.5" HDD, married together in software to become a Fusion drive. Non Fusion systems have just the 1TB Seagate HDD.

So, the most common reason an iMac comes across my bench is because it's either ridiculously slow, or it fails to boot at all. The most...

Apple Watch Charging Controller Schematics / Boardview - 820-02601
          by a_p3rson
          Hi there,

I'm looking for anyone who might have information on Apple's embedded Apple Watch charging daughterboard, ID 820-02601. This is currently used by Anker in their Apple Watch charging products, but likely by other Apple partner brands as well.

You can see the board referenced in ChargerLab's teardown of the Anker Y1811 3-in-1 MagSafe cube - they discuss the "Apple Watch wireless charging circuit" about 2/3rds down the page. It's not pictured, but the board ID reads 820-02601-A, which sure sounds like Apple.
          This daughterboard uses an interesting...

          Apple Macbook A1707 Hard disk
          by Eleways
          Hi

I've an Apple macbook A1707 with Hdd defect.

This product don't work with a normal Hard disk, but the hard disk it's a BGA component on the logic board.

          My question is:
Can i exchange the hard disk, by desolder the bga Hard disk and replacing this?

Can i replace with a different one (es 500 gb instead of 250 gb)

This Macbook has T1 security check.

          Thanks and best regards

          Luca
