    133/100/33 +PC100 Clarification

    A bit of a noob here so here goes..

    My Mobo (Jetway 630AF [SiS630]) has an option for the FSB/SDRAM/PCI Ratio of 133/100/33.

    Question: Does this mean I cound use a mixed bag of 1xPC100 (256MB) + 2xPC133 RAM (256MB each) with my Pentium III 733Mhz Processors (133fsb & 256k L2)?

    Using the title above I've searched google, but came up emtpy handed.

    Any help is deeply appreciated.

    Thanks!!!

    Best thing to do is go download the motherboard manual from Jetway for that model to see the details on that option....also try SiS for a description of features for the 630 chipset.

    It could mean that the board will run asynchronously...the cpu running at whatever fsb it needs, and the ram running at either 100 or 133 and maintain proper pci bus of 33 MHz.

      @WNG: Thanks. :-)

      Will do that, but i wanted to clarify that I will be running the processor in its stock settings. So I just wanted to know if I'm putting my PC100 part in danger of being overclocked to 133.

      I'm currenty looking for the manual in the office. This particular mobo had crap caps and was thrown away by the tech supprt people along with the processor (!) when they thought that it apparently died. :-)

        Yup, it will run asynchronusly with the CPU FSB at 133, SDRAM at 100 and PCI at 33. PC100 SDRAM will run at 100 MHz in this mode. In any event, no damage will happen to the RAM if it is overclocked - it may just not work reliably at 133.

          look at your pc100 ram closely
          i see stuff marked 100 often but the chips are -75 which is 133
          bought a big bagfull of micron 512 sticks from a shop who thought pc100 was useless.
          $20 for 50+ sticks is a steal.
          they were all -75

            @kc8adu:
            My 256MB PC100 is a Kingston KVR100X64C2/256.

            BTW, thanks for evwryone's one input. The PC100 stick seems to be working fine with the board along with the two PC133 sticks.

            Also on the board itself it was printed that there is indeed a 133:100:33 FSB/SDRAM/PCI option. Did it by software in the bios though instead of setting the jumpers. :-)

                  the -a75 means pc133
                  run em at 133

                    @kc8adu: you sure?

                    This is ValueRAM, right?

                    So it isn't supposed to be good OC'ed, since this are the cheapies of Kingston?

                      no mfr makes 100mhz sdrams anymore.havnt for many years.
                      to make a pc100 module they use 133 chips and label/program spd to suit.
                      the only thing pc100 about that dimm is the label.

                        Running memory and cpu async is not recomended with SIS chips. I have no clue abouth Intel platform SIS chips, but all SIS K7 boards have shown a performance drop in this mode.

                          @kc8adu: OIC. :-) Will try to run the RAM at 133. Interestingly enough I googled the chip numbers and it came out that most of this chips are actually used on PC133 sticks!!!

                          @gonzo0815: Heh, at least that gives me more reasons to run this Kingston PC100@133. :-)

                          Thanks for the comments everyone. Its been really helpful. :-)
