I seem to recall that this is completely within the terms of Microsoft's licence agreements for Windows Vista, 7 and 8 - so long as the original version is an OEM install.

          FDISK it!

The "delete partition" option in Windoze setup does not remove everything, despite what it seems...

A Win98 bootable CD, with utilities, is what I use to clean up.

As you're just removing partitions, there's no problem with the "137GB" limit, or NTFS vs FAT32.
          "pokemon go... to hell!"

          EOL it...

            Says:

You'll need a legitimate disc and product key, but you can just use an old or used one—after you install, you can call Microsoft and they'll activate your downgrade for you. You can even downgrade multiple machines with the same CD and key.

              Win7 Emulation in Linux
              by Hondaman
If I install Win7 in VirtualBox or KVM, will Windows be tied to that exact hardware? Can I take the VM and move it to another machine at some point without having to re-activate Win7?

I bought a replacement board identical to the one Win7 is licensed on. But of course it failed. I have two more identical boards in my basement. Running out of acceptable hardware will not happen for quite a few years, hopefully.

But I am looking forward to that day when I cannot find any hardware, and I have to use emulation. Does anyone have experience with this?

              win7 home iso? can I get 10?
              by eccerr0r
Well I think that I have a GTX660Ti that's dead but I think I should give it one last try with its original OS and drivers: win7 home premium. While I can't stomach using win* of any type (I'm 100% Linux these days) I think I have to give benefit of the doubt to drivers, etc.

So... I have the original CoA for Win7 home premium and it's an OEM license. And I have the whole computer that the GTX660Ti came in (it was reportedly working too), minus the original hard drive, what could I download and run the machine temporarily to verify the GTX660Ti works with Windows or not?
