Dell SX280/Video Controller Driver For Win7?

Hello All,

I searched the forum for this but didn't see this exact issue. I want to very much upgrade to Win7 from XP PRO on my poly-modded Dell SX280 sff. I got all the drivers already except for one called a "video controller" in Device Manager. I haven't as of yet found this driver. Is there a hack,tweak,custom driver out there? Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Do you have a discrete video card or integrated graphics?

I have integrated graphics/video. I should have stated that in the original post.

Unfortunately I've had some trouble trying to get older integrated video to work with Windows 7 (Even 32 bit) I think you'd need to add a low profile video card, like a GT 430. That would help a lot anyways!

Can't add video card. There is no pci or pci-e slot. Unless it could go in place of the cd/dvd drive?

According to Intel's website there aren't any win 7 (and by extension win 8) drivers for the GMA 900 series chipset that you have in that machine.

You *could* run Vista on there (without Aero support) but I wouldn't recommend it.

32bit drivers for XP should work with 7 (not 8), but without Aero (no WDDM support).

Hello,

I tried to run the driver for the "video controller" in XP SP3 compatibility mode, no success. I do know what else to try? I guess I can just use it as is. I just have that driver flagged in Device Manager.

Tried the latest version from Intel ?

If it does not install from Setup (using compatibility mode), you can try extracting the installation file and installing the driver using device manager.

Of course, you can stay with basic VGA driver if you wish.

I've used this method before to install XP drivers on workstation that had Server 2003 on it. Basically, the manufacturer of the workstation did not have any Server 2003 drivers for it, and the XP driver package files would fail to install in Server 2003. Extracting the driver package files and using Device Manager to manually point out the right drivers worked great, though.

Have you tried installing the Windows Vista driver?
