the crap administrators have to deal with!

like when some kid puts a program on windows that plays the nyan theme when ever a windows progress bar comes up, oh and did I mention it was at full volume to where I jumped so far out of my seat that my head was in the ceiling,it scared the shit out of me!

anybody with a story like that?
Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

"Dude, this is Wyoming, i hopped on and sent 'er. No fucking around." -- Me

Excuse me while i do something dangerous

You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

mine is a pain in the ass but in a different way. I have 100 remote servers that have no mouse keyboard or monitor kind of hard to get past an error that says strike F1 to continue.

Whatever remote tool that lets you see the press F1 error should let you press F1.

There is no remote tool that tells me I just guess if the computer is turned on and not in the OS that someone at the remote site has to plug in a USB keyboard and hit F1 sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Or you know, you could just go in bios and disable that option, so the bios won't ask you to press F1 on errors.

And if that's really not possible, get a 2-3$ atmega chip and make yourself a usb "dongle" that just emulates a virtual keyboard and after power off, just sends F1 several times in the first 10-20 seconds:

If there are several machines, just allocate a tiny server which monitors some service on the computers and if the service is down for n attempts, you know it's frozen/rebooted and waiting for f1/stuff like that.

Don't have the ability to disable the option it's a simple desktop motherboard with pretty much no options. I will check out that dongle thats a great idea Thank you for that one. I have monitoring software on all of the machines that I manage called whatsup. Thankfully I have that much the people that use these servers have a fit when they are down and for good reason. Stores get pretty upset when they have problems with the programs that are running on those servers.

I also use openmanage to monitor the other 225 servers that I manage. But they are all older dell boxes not whitebox peices of shit.
