Wow, haven't posted in here in a while!
Anyways, I recently bought a Tyan S2927 and a pair of Opteron 2419's to go with it. When I put it together, the board wouldn't post or do anything. I sent it back to the seller who tested it again and lo and behold, it worked. So checked what version Bios it currently had (V2.02 I believe) and looked on Tyan's website for the newest. Sure enough, the newest is V2.05 that adds support for Istanbul Opterons. So after buying a cheap 2214 HE to get it running, I am now attempting to flash the bios with the latest update.
This is where the problems are beginning. Tyan decided the S2927 does not need to be compatable with their bios flashing utility, and instead instruct you to create a windows 98 boot disk (like we all have one of those sitting around,) and flash the bios that way. Hmm, I don't even have a floppy drive... The board does not seem to support booting from USB either.
Anyone have any idea how I can do this without having to buy a floppy drive?
