    Missing fuses on circuit boards

How can I make fuses work on motherboards and graphics cards that have solder pads for a surface mount fuse but no fuse installed and apparently no way to unshort the pads from one another? I can't find a shorting trace on either side of these boards, and I've wicked up the solder from some of the pads to find feed-through holes in them but have seen none.

I'm interested in installing fuses so that overvoltage diodes can be safely installed in the empty spaces made for them.

Re: Missing fuses on circuit boards

The mother board can have 6~7 layers so the pad may be connected on the Power layer. If they make two pads for installing fuse as an option, there may be other device pads that are in parallel with the fuse pads.

Re: Missing fuses on circuit boards

I wouldn't bother but there is an ugly solution... Apply sufficient current to the fuse pads that the trace between them melts, but put the solder back on the pads so they survive this. I take no responsibility for any damage that may result...

Help me identify the missing component... Sound to light circuit
        by edugimeno
        hI there!
Im trying to help a friend repairing a large, real-sized short-circuit robot.
This is remotely controlled and has a 2 way voice send/receive. Also while the hidden operator is talking, the red bulb inside the "mouth" should flash according to the sound
Some other technician used to service it and he was fired leaving all the repairs unfinished and no documentation at all.

What I found is a sound receiver, a speaker, and a wire directly to the mought bulb (a normal motorbike 5W 12V bulb).
So I bought a simple 2X30W amplifier to feed the loudspeaker...

No short but PPBUS_G3H missing 820-01700
        by Comp_Pro
        Hello all,

I have this 820-01700 board which came in with 5V 0.015A on the ammeter. Ammeter cycles every 5 seconds or so. Upon inspection I found PPBUS_G3H is reading around 0.6V. There is no short to ground. Diode mode reading is about 0.420V. When I remove fuses F7000 and F7001 the U700 side of the circuit produces 12.3V and the cycling goes away on the ammeter but still stays at 5V and now reads 0A. This goes away as soon as I put back the fuses. I tried injecting voltage onto the system side of the fuse pads but I do not get any current draw at all. I tried seeing if the voltage...
