IWILL MPX2 - PLEASE - SOLID HELP & ADVICE NEEDED!!!

    hi,

*** little while ago my system BIOS went BOOTBLOCK - I resolved this by flashing.

please see this thread for history of this + system specs:

    http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?t=72815

    and some more history here:

    http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?t=72051

*** not too long after resolving BOOTBLOCK, i was in the middle of loading dvfootage onto a drive and my Matrox G550 video card completely crapped out on me - screen was filled with blocks of different colours etc...

i put in another AGP video card to test and all was well

*** replaced the test AGP video card with an old Matrox PCI video card, and now my system will not boot up at all (i don't think this has anything to do with the PCI videocard though?): by this i mean the green power light will come on, as will the system harddrive light, as well as all system fans, psu + fans, optical drives, etc..

BUT I HEAR NO FAMILIAR SINGLE BEEP(NO BEEPS AT ALL IN FACT) AND CERTAINLY NO BIOS POST!!!

THE FANS JUST SPIN, THE LIGHTS STAY ON, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS - and certainly, the monitor tells me its not receiving a signal.

***when my matrox card crapped out on me, i thought my 4 year old ANTEC TRUE550W was the cause, as many others had problems with it, and i had had some other stuff happen prior to that that suggested so (ie., 1 or 2 random restarts and some data loss) - in fact, i was ready to buy a bigger ZIPPY psu, but thought i should at least test my Antec first.

***tested my Antec PSU with a multimeter today, and although the system did not post, and so i COULDN'T test it under full load, my PSU 3.3v, 5v, and 12v readings were as follows:

    3.31V
    5.0V
    11.91/11.92V

also, please know that my multiplier is set to 16 and my FSB is stock @ 133, stock vcore too.

    what's going on here?

all help and advice greatly appreciated,

Well, as on that forum, the Antec postings aren't that very good, i would check the caps in that psu at first. It depends how old that psu is, if it is older than 1 year it could probably som bulging cap. If it is older it is probably shure that the caps on it has left the magic fluid out.
But keep in mind that this will void warranty, and that there are probably some lethal voltage on it, even unpluged.

      SMD fuse soldering advice please
      by Ady2017
Hi all. I need to replace an SMD fuse on my camcorder and this is the first time I have had to do any SMD soldering so your advice would be appreciated. Below is a picture of the board that I am working on and I have highlighted the fuse that needs to be replaced. I managed to zoom in to take this picture but the fuse is really tiny and is sandwiched between other components so this is going to be a new milestone for me. I appreciate that I am going to have to buy a new soldering iron if you could advice on what I need please. I was thinking about putting a big soldering iron across the whole...

Replacing electrolytic caps by solid caps on old motherboards
      by madscientist750
I do have several old pc motherboards which i recapped 10 year ago and some of those caps are bulged now.
I would like to upgrade them using solid capacitors. I do use them for testing and helping some alternative operating systems.
I would like to ask if such an upgrade can be done, what should i have in mind when replacing electrolytic by solid caps and if such thing exist, if there are caps list for old motherboards. I would have to figure out what caps needs each motherboard and then prepare a list to try to ask for them on some electronics stores.

XPS 9520 not powering up. Solid orange led
      by Weelcup
      Hi friends

I have a dell XPS 9530 which had some liquid damage to the usb area. I replaced both the usbc iCs and not I can see 20v on the meter. But it does nothing and the 20v is not passing to charge the battery or turning on the board either.

I suspected the PD controller (usbc controller) but it will need to be flashed if I decide to replace it. I thought that if the usbc controller needs flashing then at least the board should turn on on the battery. I charged the battery externally and attached it to the laptop. Now the 11.8v is actually passed to the board I can...

CH341 programmer advice, including jumpers seemingly reversed
      by chazzo
I’d appreciate some very basic advice on CH341x programmers. I know this topic comes up from time to time, but stuff changes, so I hope a refresh is in order. In particular, I see some unexpected things happening with jumper positions.

[My plan is to learn to read and write 24CO2 EEPROMs via I2C. The first target is the one in my Uni-T clamp meter, but before tackling that I have some brand-new EEPROMs to practice on.]

I have two basic Chinese programmers. One is the blue board with a CH341A and two rows of pin headers. To my untrained eye it looks like all the others....

      Need T-Con Advice (Vizio P602ui-B3)
      by Jidis
      Hi all,

I made a big-ass mess here of my father's beloved P602, and I'm trying to figure out if I should order a batch of overpriced ribbons or if I'd just be throwing more good money at the bad.

He woke up recently to a bunch of white bars going down the right side of the screen. From what I'd seen in these places, I figured the T-con board has gone out or has a bad connection. I took the back off and gently poked at the socketed ribbons and sure enough, got the image back. It was mainly the far left ribbon, and it would snap back to stripes if I let off the pressure....
