Hi All,
I'm new and reading the posts am out of my depth already! I found the site after getting no help from A*er technical. Easy one I guess. I'm in the UK and been given the above monitor. My friend said it was taking longer and longer to come on but was fine when it did. Eventually it wouldnt come on at all. I am a factory mechanic not an electrician, but having had similar problems on the cnc machines I mainatain I suspected the ccfls. Am I barking up the wrong tree. The tube holders are stamped with 6811. Could anyone direct me to a supplier, UK ideally, if I am heading in the right direction that is! I hate creating landfill if a cheap fix is possible.

This doesnt actually sound like a lamps problem- do you want to do a few tests first.
Lamps are quite difficult to handle/replace also expensive relative to a second hand 19" monitor. Whilst it might sound difficult reading the posts the tests are simple and we can
give step by step instruction - small steps -based on your ability.
Do you have a multimeter and soldering equipment and can you use them.

We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

It's easy to see if it is a problem with CCFL's, just shine a light on the display and see if there's any kind of picture. If there is then it's either an inverter problem of the CCFL bulbs gone bad. Also the problem can be caused by bad solder joints on the inverter transformer(s) or bad joints on the CCFL's meaning they can be good but not getting power. This applies if the monitor turns on and stays on. What you described sounds like you might have bad capacitors since the monitor would take a long time to turn on and now it doesn't come on at all. My advice is to pop the thing open and check the caps first. If all seem ok then you have another problem.

I find replacing CCFL's in desktop monitor pretty easy usually. at least the ones iv'e taken apart they just slide out.

laptop monitors, no, hell no.

but this screams inverter. when caps start to dry up on your power board, it can cause longer and longer lamp warmup times
