    deleting logical partition

For some reason my hdd is split into two sections, c: and d:

c has a recovery partition which is normal, and the operating system, but why has it chosen to create a logical disk d:?

i want to delete it and merge it back into c
is that possible? the partition has been cleared and formatted

FDISK should do it no problem.

I take it you want to keep your C drive intact? If so backup all data and then get Partition Magic Pro

You might already have it, comes bundled with a few mobos etc, otherwise you will need to purchase it because I do not think the free versions offers this...

I'm not sure what you're referring to there, but, whatever kind of program/data it is, you can always back it up to a DVD before repartitioning the disk.

                  Officially yes.

But hang on - if all you want to do is make a backup of the contents of a particular partition before wiping a drive, all you need to do is to backup the files in question to a DVD or two, tape, other hard disk, etc. You can always zip them first into a single archive, thereby saving some space and giving you an easy way of doing a checksum of the backed up data.

If, on the other hand, you simply want to change the hard disk's partitioning without having to replace its contents, you could always follow Per's advice concerning PartitionMagic.

I would never want to delete my restore image form my HD. In the event I am unable to boot into Windows, I would want to be able to restore Windows in DOS.

I am assuming your motivation to delete your restore partion is that you need more storage space on your HD. What I would do is leave my restore image on my HD in addition to backing it up to a DVD. I would purchase a larger HD, create two partitions on it with Partition Magic, then clone my system partion to the first partion, and the restore partion to the second partition with Norton Ghost. I have both Partition Magic and Norton Ghost and find them both indispensible.

                      Hi ya folks,

I have a corrupted BIOS file and a freshly downloaded BIOS file from the vendor.

Can someone merge these for me please?

I assume, we wont need make or model in this instance?

                      Thanks a million folks....

                      ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                      by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                      Some issues
                      A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                      Things I tried

Merge ECS Z77-H2 bios cap file with original dump
                      by adelage
                      Hi,
I am trying to recover an ECS Z77-H2 motherboard, I dumped the original bios with a ch341a programmer, the bios from the manufacturer is a .cap file of smaller size, and it seems that I need to merge this file with other information from the dump, anyone can explain how to do that?

Asus X541UV Windows update KB5063060 deleting BootOrder EFI environment variable? bios fix
                      by davidebeatrici
I had 3 people contact me in a week because Windows suddenly didn't boot:

As you can see, all 3 are ASUS computers, but I believe the common factor is the BIOS being American Megatrends (AMIBIOS/APTIO).

The first two recovered just fine after a restart, but the third one didn't and was brought to me. The model is F541UV (X541UV).
Setup allows to add a boot option manually and the operating system boots just fine from both bootx64.efi and bootmgr.efi. However, there is no way whatsoever to save the option(s): upon a reboot the machine goes straight...
