    Lenovo 3000 H series - Known issues?

Have one of these coming in with random crashes.
    Haven't seen it yet.
    Any known issues?
    .
    Thanks.

    50-leven variants of this thing.
All I know more is it's an Atom 230 1.6GHz.
Didn't expect that in an IBM.

is it one of those low-end nettop-style desktops? if so, does memtest help? those boards are kind of a pain, it could be anything, since it's the mini-itx board right?

        I think so.
        It's not actually here yet.
Literally all they told me that helps ID: "Lenovo 3000 H series" and "Atom230 at 1.6GHz"
        .
I'm hoping it's not an nVidia chip issue.

Atom + nvidia chipset/graphics was always called ION or ION2 .. and i've only ever seen those with the "higher end" dualcore Atoms (i.e.: Atom 330 instead if 230)

i highly doubt you'll find nvidia in there (thank god)..

            Thanks. - Good to hear.

The way they are screwing around at the other end it might be weeks before this thing shows up.
It's one of those 'favor' jobs but seeing as I owe them one I can't complain.

              It's done.
All Intel board. - No hardware problems.
Good cap brands except for some small ones.
              .
They got a virus and tried to fix it by installing Win7 over XP.
Win7 with only 2Gb RAM.... Don't think so..
              .
Wiped it and did a fresh XP install. ~ Done.

FYI, lenovo doesn't mean ibm... not at all. Lenovo is Lenovo. Hence why the modern Thinkpads I don't trust 100%... having seen the non ex-IBM lenovo stuff, I wasn't that impressed.

at least my dell latitudes are still dell latitudes...

                  That's right.
                  Lenovo isn't IBM.
                  IBM PCs are Lenovo.
Lenovo bought IBM's PC business in 2005.
                  .
I've never liked IBM laptops at all. [Before or after Lenovo.]

the older one have a little bit of charm... and innovation.. from overdesigned keyboards to the screen mounted LED (t22 and later), they have done a lot.

now, I don't see the benifit... i've found dell latitudes easier to work on and in most cases to be identical if not better build quality, on par with mid-range toughbooks (the uber-durable ones are only matched by the latitude ATG series).

deskop wise, anything ibm post pentium 1 is junk... the netivistas sucked. the thinkcentres sucked more, and the thinktowers (or whatever they are called) are meh at best.

IBM became GE pretty much... the high end industrial stuff (GE's turbofans and diesel engines vs Intel's Power CPUs) is awesome, but your consumer crap is rebadged china trash... only GE's is worse (thompson garbage anybody?)

Re: Lenovo 3000 H series - Known issues?

Little-known fact: None of the big "laptop manufacturers" (with two exceptions I know of below) actually makes nor designs much other than what their products look like today. The electrical design is all done by ODMs like Compal, Quanta, Inventec, Wistron, etc.

                      Lenovo 3000H series = Compal LA-4212P
Dells are Compals, Quantas, or Wistrons from what I've seen.

IBM designed some of the models themselves, used Wistron for some others, but with the Lenovo acquisition they transitioned to a mixture of Compal and Wistron.

Acer spun off Wistron. So Acer used to be Wistron.
