IMac G5 20" Logic Board, HELP!!

Hi all, i have just purchased a sold as faulty, IMac G5 20". It will not boot, but is getting getting power from the PSU because the first LED is lit, when i press the internal power button the second LED lights up momentary and the fans spin for a fraction of a second, then nothing. Now the seller stated it was working then started acting strange, so he opened it up and it had bad caps, so he replaced them, but his soldering skill where not so good, and it didn't help. I will replace the caps again, but i am worried about something i see on the rear side of the board. It looks to me like maybe he somehow he got a little piece of solder bridging across the board (see in pics) and maybe that could be causing the board to short out on boot.

Please can someone look at the pics and tell me if this is normal or its what a stated.

    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, your picture is not clear enough to say one way or the other.

Without the 2nd light coming on, I'd suspect the PSU before the motherboard. You need 2 on before it will run.

Sorry about the bad picture quality, im suspecting bad caps again maybe, but im no expert. Is there any other way i can test the psu? It also makes a split second sound when the power button is pressed, its a like an electrical spike, best way i can describe it

If it doesn't reach "chime" stage, It's most likely the PSU. No other way to test it than to pull it and have a look inside. Just looking thru the mobo side of its vents usually shows a few "domed" caps.

Find one of the threads in here with the pinout of the PSU and check for standby 5v and 24v.

What model number is the PSU. API#

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                  by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

                  by Yanleb
Hi all, I just want to share the repair of my 60PK550-UA TV set.

The TV set was powering on, just no image. After verification, nothing wrong on the YSus or ZSus boards. Nothing wrong on the main board either.

But I noticed that the LED was not flashing on the Logic Control Board. This is an EBR63450301. The LED is supposed to flash even with all the flat cables disconnected, with only the power cable attached.

All the voltages measured at the electrolytic capacitors on the board were good. From top left to bottom right:
                  C57: 3.30V
                  C61:...

Will I have a bricked logic board after reflow of the GPU v-core U8900 chip on my Mid-2012 15" Retina Macbook pro?
                  by korben_dallas
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).

I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.

I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.

                  MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...
