    Re: repair/replace solder pads

Depends a bit on how it looks. If its not very sensitive i just put a solder blob in place. Sometimes i patch it with a leg from a resistor or similar. There are loads of ways to do it, and depends a bit on how things look.

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
      by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Restore solder pads for SMC on MacBook A1466
      by dbuergi
      Hi all,

i got a A1466 logic board for spare parts but it looks like the SMC ist bad. I got several spares but somehow i was too fast while removing it and ripped some pads off. You can see the damage attached.
Just for experience i would like to restore the lost pads but before i start (haven't done this before) do you have some hints or tutorials how to do it?
As written i want to improve skills so it doesnt matter if it takes longer.

What LED's to Buy To Replace Backlight LED's and What Solder with LED's
      by Tarot Superstars
      Hello.

I changed the led strips on my Hitachi 32 inch.
The TV is now ok since I have already replaced any capacitors that needed replacing.

I have also bought a spare set of LED strips for the tv also.

I want to be able to replace singular LED's in the LED strips if I need to, but I am not sure what value LED package to buy from Ebay in the UK.

The LED strips I bought were:
Replacement Backlight Array LED Strip Bar For Hitachi 32HB6J61U 32HBT41U 32" TV

On ebay I have a choice of singular LED's with voltage and...

Best way to solder LVDS connector for beginner (and qfn) ?
      by corrize
Hello, I'm a beginner for micro soldering. Right now I have some difficult to solder a qfn 20, I guess I put too much solder on the thermal-ground pad, the result is a corner of chip wich don't touch the board (last try).

I use a wire solder with hot air, I tin the board and chip before with iron and I use good flux.

I will have to solder a LVDS connector (40 pins, laptop pc), I saw a solder paste in seringe, good quality (it does not scatter).
      See the test :

With hot air from bellow the board, that's...

      Hello All,

tl;dr: minimal electronics experience and my first repair, lifted 8 pads off the laptop display LED controller board when attempting a connector replacement, options are attempting pad repair or jump wiring.
