What LED's to Buy To Replace Backlight LED's and What Solder with LED's

    Hello.

I changed the led strips on my Hitachi 32 inch.
The TV is now ok since I have already replaced any capacitors that needed replacing.

I have also bought a spare set of LED strips for the tv also.

I want to be able to replace singular LED's in the LED strips if I need to, but I am not sure what value LED package to buy from Ebay in the UK.

The LED strips I bought were:
Replacement Backlight Array LED Strip Bar For Hitachi 32HB6J61U 32HBT41U 32" TV

On ebay I have a choice of singular LED's with voltage and colour temperature:

Voltage choices: 3V, with temperature choices:
    3000K
    4000K
    6500K

or 6V to 6.2V, Colour temperature 12000-16000K (cool white)

    or 3V to 3.7V, 12000-15000K (cool white).

    My Caliper measures the LED's at ~ 3.48mm x 2.63 mm.

There are most likely other choices, if I look more.

Also, I am new to SMD soldering and usually only used a normal soldering iron with leaded solder, though I have unleaded. I also have a hot air gun I haven't used.

    My questions are:
    1. What voltage and temperature rating of LED should I buy to match the ones in my Hitachi TV?
2.What type of solder should I use, soldering wire, or paste with the hot air?
    3. Should I use an iron or hot air?

if you have new strips just use them and forget it . your time is better spent doing other stuff .
if you must go changing single ones first check the vf of a known good one with an led tester . you will need a heat plate to do it properly . maybe solder paste wil be needed . i dunno never bothered with it .. plenty of other things to take up my time .

        Just buy something like this.

        https://a.aliexpress.com/_mKHoTUa

I break the LED off first and reveals the pads then I put a little solderon each pad with solder on and head up the solder and pad, and can usually scrape off the original pad from the smd itself. Then clean it up and put a small amount of solder on each side with the iron. Spread evenly and then I use hot air gun to melt the solder again, with flux ofc and tweezers drop it onto the pad once the solder is liquid. Press into place and all good. Best way ive found.

Get yourself a cheap hotplate from Ali if you want to do LED replacing. Less than 10£/10$
Place the LED strip on top, the LED is off in seconds, drop on the replacement LED and done.

RCA RLDED 4331B: 43 inch LED TV: Backlight issue
            by lmcancu
Hi I am having an issue with the LED backlight of this TV. I can see the picture with a flash light, so I determined it was a backlight issue.

Initially, after opening it I found 2 shorted and 1 open LED on 2 strips (total of 4). I removed the LEDs and shorted the pads together to verify if the backlight would work.

Testing it, I found the backlight turned on and I measured 54V when TV was in standby (off), and 100v when TV was turned on. The 4 strips each contain 9 LEDs, so 36 in all minus 3.

Instead of putting it back together I decided to replace...

About replacing individual LEDS on BL strips
            by edugimeno
            Hi There!
Having fixed 5-6 TV sets by replacing full LED strips, and having watched other people fix that by replacing just one LED in the strip, my question now is what should I consider before doing so.

At this time I have some old strips removed from TV's with all but one LED working. Are there different voltage/current LED on different strips? Are 99% of them just the same and interchangeable?

How do you find which specific model is needed for each strip? When I check if a LED is OK by attaching the multimeter leads to the individual led pads on the strips I...

Vizio M70-D3 4K with dark spots backlight issue
            by Yanleb
I have a Vizio M70-D3 4K with a dark spots backlight issue. It is using the Y8387248A backlight driver board.

On this model each of the 64 transistor powers 2 LEDs. Using my TKDMR TD3H backlight tester I've determined that the backlight LED strips were the issue, and the backlight driver board was just fine. Some LED pairs required 5.9 volt at 155mA, some required 9.5 volt and some were completely open.

I've removed the LCD panel and once the LED strips were exposed I've tested them again by connecting my LED tester directly on the test pads. To my surprise all, I've...

            Sceptre 48" TV backlight LED`s
            by spirittoo
Trying to fix a backlight problem with a Sceptre 48" TV.

I found replacement strips with the same part number as the strips in the Sceptre, but the new backlight strips have 5 leds per strip and the ones in the tv has 6.

So I decided to replace the leds instead. I found 3 bad ones. I had no problem removing the bad ones with a heat gun, they came right out. However the leds on the replacement strip would not come out with heat. I use my solder iron as well, they will not come off.

Anyone know how I can remove those leds without damaging them?

            Samsung un65h6203af led replacement question
            by tmhobadcap
This tv is with sound but no picture. When light shines on the screen, we can see the image. This is a typical backlight problem. I opened it and found quite a lot of the leds are damaged. But the damaged ones are all shorted. No one is open. Is there a special reason? (From my past experience, both can be happened)

When I supply 3V to each of the good leds, the currents range from 105mA to 154mA. From these figures, I think the leds are 3V and about 0.5W. I plan to replace all the damaged leds only (because the price of the led strips is very expensive), but I could not find 3V 0.5W...
