      Re: Dell 4700 circuit breaker

I found a similar looking plastic holder on a Dimension 8400 parts board I had around.

It's labeled on the board as 32.768Khz. Of course, your component may or may not be the same. It may be a different component in the same plastic holder. But it's certainly worth checking the board for any markings that may hint as to its value.

I've attached pictures of the component both in and out of the plastic holder. Note the value of the component is silkscreened on the board.

Guys, you're right on. Had to get out my glass but there it was right on the board. Where the review I read came up with all this circuit breaker stuff I can't imagine. Now if I can find a replacement_

Thanks to all you guys who gave it a shot; truly it's appreciated.

Right again, kc8adu. Just started going through some old boards and found 3 in two minutes_without the plastic, of course.

9th Gen Dell Optiplex Micro PC motherboard repair: Short Circuit?
              by Geeker007
Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is...

Dell Inspiron 5590 Board 18778-1 no charging, charging not possible
              by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

Dell AL440LX power on switch circuit help required
              by Powderfanupnorf
Hi Everyone. First official post so fingers crossed I conform and also manage to get photos to work.

So I am requesting some help from anyone who happens to have one of these motherboards to hand and perhaps a multimeter.

My board has a single row of header pins for all the front panel stuff (have seen others where they are grouped together differently so thats no help) and the two pins for the power on switch had been previously repaired and I am trying to make a better repair. There looks to be pad and trace damage and im happy to relocate the header pin/pins to...

              by F R 2568
              Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

              The power/battery...
