    EPOX?

I have an epox ep-3vca2. The cpu is a p3-733 coppermine with a 133 frontside bus. I can't get the damn thing to run at 133 fsb! 125 is fine and stable but anything above that crashes! I did a visual inspection of the caps and they look fine. The cpu/dimms all work properly on another motherboard. My powersupply is an enermax 300 watt. Anybody hear any bad news about the caps on epoxboards?

    have you tried another psu?
    do you have a scope?
caps can still be bad even if they look fine.
look for hash on the vcore line.
    look at +3.3 +5 and +12 too.

The only Epox I've seen with bad caps was an OLD PP6-NB socket-8 Pentium Pro board... This was a couple years ago, and I haven't seen another one since. This doesn't mean that your board isn't suffering the plague.

As noted on www.badcaps.net/ident/ and kc8 mentioned, there isn't always physical signs. If you have the means to scope it, it would be worth a try.

To maybe answer your question in relation to your specific symptom, I have seen many Abit VP6 motherboards not able to run at full FSB speed (100MHz and higher) with faulty caps. What you described is one of the many symptoms.

I have tried two other supplies. Voltages are all within spec however they do fluctuate a little bit. (+- .05V or so...nothing to worry about). I don't have a scope or even access to one that i know of. I swapped in a different dimm last night, kingston pc133, 256MB and it still behaved the same way.

I was afraid of that. I've swapped in every part i could think of and it still behaves the same. I'm going to pull the board after work and get a closer look. I guess it's time to start looking for new caps...kinda sucks- the old mobo wants to die right before Christmas....

KDL-60EX500. Comes on fine, sound is fine, backlights come on. Blank screen. Already tried reset POWER/VOL-. Anyone else have this problem? Possibly bad T-Con RUNTK4244ZZ or panel? Could main or power supply cause this? There were 2 blown 560u 35v on power going to backlights but they were still working fine. Thanks for your help.

Dell ATX PSU won’t start, but forcing it works fine?
            by CapLeaker
Got a case of something new weird at work. There is an old 2nd gen Intel i3 in an old “Pizza box” shell that has a small form factor power supply. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures and model number off it.

Anyway, I get to work and get to look at this computer. Standby LED on the PSU is on, but the computer won't start. Hmm o.k. take the battery out of the main board try again, nothing. O.k. then… unplug the power supply from the main board and put in a full size ATX PSU (yeeeesss! Exact that blown Powerman IP that I fixed a while back), plug it in and the old...

RTX3090 working fine but fans not spinning
            by emil_t
Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

I have this TV set that I spent a long time fixing it.
I finally found a shorted SMD capacitor near the plug from the PS at the main board. It was shorting one of the main voltages (can't remember which one)
I removed that capacitor, and as it has another one in parallel, I left it with only one, checked it and it seemed to work fine. The solder near that capacitor was really delicate as I pulled apart one trace so I prefered to not mess much with it after I had to air solder one small thread of copper

I didn't use that TV much at that time. Now that I'm using it,...

MPG Z590 No display output with known working GTX 1060/RTX 3070, works fine with GTX 1030

I have a customer machine on my bench right now that's stumped all the techs, so I decided to come here for help.

            The specs are:
            MPG Z590 Gaming Carbon Wi-Fi (MS-7D06)
            Intel core i9-10900kf
            2x16gb Corsair Vengeance kit
BIOS ver is E7D06IMS.1B0, from 6/12/2023

The machine was brought in because it would not POST after a GPU upgrade from a GTX 1030 to an RTX 3070. The customer also brought in the original GTX 1030, as well as a GTX 1060 that the machine also wouldn't POST with.
I tested the 1060 and 3070 on my bench (ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming...
