Pics of some of my troubled boards

IBM NetVista A40: has Chhsi all over it -except there are (4) 1500uF 6.3V that appear to be marked like Panasonics, but could be fakes. The new Pani's I have look more crisp in the lettering and the gold paint used on the (-) side looks more solid. Same vent and bung though. The old ones look like the paint was thinned. The Chhsi have the same appearance. This reminds me of some of the Ruby pics you guys posted.

    Board material list:
    1500uF 6.3V (4)
    1200uF 10V (9)
    470uF 10V (10)
    68uF 16V (20)
    10uF 25V (8)

Out of the (20) 68uF caps, I found two that were marked Rubycon -all others were Chhsi

Re: Pics of some of my troubled boards

May I make a suggestion for the future? Don't put your boards on a piece of cloth for picture-taking or work. That's a great way to get a static discharge and *really* do some damage you can't see. A piece of aluminum foil (dull side up) works much better (keeps all the pins at the same potential). Also, if you use indirect lighting and turn off the flash on your camera, you won't get the washout that you see around the center of the picture.

      @AKOR

Thanks AKOR. That is not a piece of cloth- it's my 3M anti-static mat on my service bench. I have a nice mat that covers my 6ft. steel service bench with laminated top. You know the type used in re-work centers? The whole bench is isolated and supplied with filtered and regulated power. It's really a nice setup. I do alot of boxes so the investment was worth it. Got it used from some satellite company that went back to Canada. Paid little since they didn't want to take it with them. I can run six machines at once on it with a bank of monitors and KVMs. I know the pics aren't great, but I wanted to snap some on my bench before re-work. The overhead flourescent on the bench is the culprit. It was about 0200 hrs. when I took them, so I wasn't up for screwing with the lighting and such. Sorry, hope it still is useful.

Sounds like a great setup (lucky you!). I don't blame you; at 0200, I wouldn't feel like doing much of anything that didn't need to be done. You also answered the unspoken question: the fate of all those boards. Good luck with the recapping.

Help with trying to fix phone that is not charging (Pics inside)
          by SluggerB
I have two TCL A30 phones.

Old Phone: This phone worked fine for years, then stopped charging If you plugged a charger into it, the phone would make the charging sound, the phone would tell you it is charging, but the battery icon would not have the charging symbol in it and the battery would not charge.I tried new battery, same behavior.

New Phone: Works fine, bought as a donor board to try and repair Old Phone

My interest here is to repair Old Phone, using components parts off New Phone if needed. I am not interested in replacing Old Phone with New Phone....

Boston Acoustic MSUB no sound output(pics)
          by r2digital
The off/on/auto switch was busted so i forced it into auto mode and now the blue light comes on but i don’t get any audio output. Does anyone one have any experience repairing this amplifier? I looked it over, checked some the of output transistors, some of the power resistors and cleaned that nasty conductive epoxy glue stuff off but not having much luck in the trouble shooting department.

I did however find a part of the PCB that was discolored from heat...
