This is a common issue for some hotrodders needing to replace their old tired fuel tank sending units with a replacement and matching it to a fuel gauge they wish to use in their cluster.
Item #1 Fuel gauge - mechanical type with sweeping needle. The resistance range of the gauge is 30-240 ohms. At E (empty) the gauge expects to see 30 ohms and at F (full) it expects to see 240 ohms.
Item #2 Sending unit in tank - mechanical type sweeping arm with a dimmer-style wire coil and wiper. The resistance range of the sending unit is 2-36 ohms. Some are more like 0-30 if...

Re: Insignia NS-48D51NA15 48" TV - No Backlight but image is present
One additional thought I just noticed upon review of the board. The CapXon caps in the corner nearest the black heatsink are rated 68uF 200v. My voltage output at the 2P connector (blk/wht wires) to the LED array was over 200V as posted. The 2P connector having its own two caps there are rated 25V. The 2P connector is where budm stated to check the voltages I posted at power on and off. He stated a 100 ohm 2W resistor on + lead to GND would light the array if voltage protection circuit was enabled by bleeding...

Re: Insignia NS-48D51NA15 48" TV - No Backlight but image is present
Thanks for the response. At least someone did.
I don't plan on repairing other tv's so an LED tester is not an option. There is a thread posted by Robert Phelps in Dec 2017 titled "insignia ns-48 no backlights" that I read and based my initial post info on. In it Badcaps veteran budm responds with his usual descriptive posts of test procedures that yield a solution. I realize with any entry level consumer product there is a propensity to contain sub-standard components. I have repaired...

Insignia NS-48D51NA15 48" TV - No Backlight but image is present
The symptom is no backlight. If looking at the screen from the right angle or using a flashlight I see the image and of course sound works. I remember repairing earlier monitor backlight issues with a CCFL tube or inverter, but haven't done and LED. I was reading through another Insignia thread and checked my voltages as requested there by BudM a long time well respected electronics guru here. My power board is slightly different than the other thread.
Referring to the other thread I performed the following tests: Black wire at power on rises up to 238-245VDC and bounces between...

I have the same model TV to look at. The symptom is no backlight. If looking at the screen from the right angle or using a flashlight I see the image and of course sound works. I remember repairing earlier backlight issues with a CCFL tube or inverter, but haven't done and LED. I was reading through this and checked my voltages as requested here by BudM a long time well respected electronics guru here and though to post and see what he would say.

Re: Apple HiFi A1121
I recently sold the Apple HiFi "as-is" to a buyer on ebay with full disclosure of the issues. A lot of cold solder joints on these unit's power supply PCB. I just didn't really care too much to fix it anymore since I am not an Apple products person.
I'll recap an old 80's Mac or II, IIc, IIe for the sake of memories when I used them back then. I'm not a "modern day" Apple fan.
Android & old school retro PC's with Linux suits me just fine!

Re: LG 37LG10-UM has grey screen color and ghosting
The IC AS15-U is installed and running cool. I now have color and a full display without the odd contrast issue. See pictures.
I have now a bit of colored noise in the display. Thin random lines horizontal lines spaced widely apart that "dance" up and down the screen. Noticeable in total black or dark background. I also have random flecks of red and blue snow in that background and especially along the top edge.
Your thoughts?...

Re: Syncmaster SA350 LED loses backlight - 2nd time seeing this monitor
@1supertech - You are referring to the main fuse F901 next to the 12V power connector? Yes it's good because the unit powers on perfectly as stated in the initial post.
This is not a dead monitor it is a working monitor with a backlight issue.
My focus is more in the upper right of pic one where the circuitry related to the backlight cable leading out is or back over to the right edge where the signal circuitry is to possibly trigger backlight when the monitor sleeps.

Re: Syncmaster SA350 LED loses backlight - 2nd time seeing this monitor
@Capleaker - This doesn't have a PSU board since it's power is integrated in the board pictured as evident by the low voltage connector in the bottom left of pic one. This has an external brick transformer as laptops do.
I didn't say there was a problem with power as I could have easily checked that with an alternate power source. Ii powers on fine with a green light as it should. Sometimes displays. The backlight is out either shortly after power or within minutes.

Syncmaster SA350 LED loses backlight - 2nd time seeing this monitor
I had another thread here for this same monitor where I corrected a separate issue by replacing the IC401 on the board and uploading the firmware (red light of death).
Now the same monitor is back for losing it's backlight. Green light is on. This progressively got worse over time to where it really just stays dark. Yes you can see the image using a flashlight. If the monitor is actually displaying and goes to sleep it never wakes up or so it seems. It's that the backlight never regains function. A poster on Youtube has this exact issue but his was the backlight connector on the...

Re: harmon/kardon sub-ts14 makes high-pitched squeal sound
I found a company in Illinois on ebay that does electronic service work. They have individual listings for all of the various plate amplifiers like the subject of this post. They offer to fix it like new again for $145. I have to "Buy it Now" and they give instructions where to ship. I ship it there at my cost and they include return shipping in the sale price.
I know the idea is to repair it yourself, but this is an option.

Re: LG 37LG10-UM has grey screen color and ghosting
I ordered the the AS15-U IC the other day and will post my findings when I get it soldered in. It's a pain finding the real thing these days. Sooo many counterfeits!
I have a new post for another friend's Samsung LED monitor that I worked on a couple years ago for a different common issue but now it's back for an unrelated but also common issue... no backlight POST or shortly thereafter. I have a HP CCFL monitor of mine that has the 2 seconds to dark issue I'll be posting pics for in another thread as well.

Re: LG 37LG10-UM has grey screen color and ghosting
Ran it for 5 min
Touched top of IC with the tip of my finger to a count of 2 sec and.... OWWW! Hot like you said it might be.
Used one of those handheld laser thermometers to get as close to an accurate reading as possible.... approx 109 F or 41-42 C temp.
Not that I have any but would freeze spray or using compressed air from my air compressor pointed directly at the top of the IC show any difference to performance? Still going to change the IC if that is what you advise, but wondering...

Re: LG 37LG10-UM has grey screen color and ghosting
These two rows are marked XPOL_1 & XSTB_1. The top row has a "B" before it.
Here's the voltages:
Top Row L-R: 15.56; 15.51; 15.49; 14.08; 15.39; 15.13; 1.05; 0.18
Bottom Row L-R: 15.50; 15.42; 15.50; 15.47; 13.65; 15.29; 0.34; 1.63
Over to the right of the rows is a triangle of pads marked YDIOU_1; YOE_1; YCLK1. I can't tell which mlabels apply to which pads but the readins are: 0.0 for the upper left, 2.08 for the upper right, 0.28 for the bottom center.

Re: LG 37LG10-UM has grey screen color and ghosting
Thanks for the reply, but if it were backlight then the screen would be dark and the image would need to be seen with a flashlight. The image is quite bright so backlight is not an issue. Though I mentioned some buzzing from the inverter board is is working since it is firing the bulbs.
The issue is lack of color from the panel (very monochrome) and the ghosting effect is an additional issue. That I would say is more of a logic/main board or bad LVDS cable or connection. I have two other logic/main boards to sub...

LG 37LG10-UM has grey screen color and ghosting
I have a friend's LG3710-UM Prod date Dec 2008 to look at.
When turned on the screen is light grey with a sort of ghosting effect when the "no signal" icon dances around the screen. All four corners of the panel have pulled in a bit showing radiused corners. Close look at the middle area shows markings in the grey color that look like "bicycle treads" running at angles.
When signal to fed through it looks as though it is in black and white though more greyscale and weak at that.
Cursory look at boards reveals Taicon on power supply...
