or is it: precapping your psu?

What is it with psu folks?
Don't they know they have the most important job? the foundation on which the p.c. stands?

atleast now I understand and support Dell in having a mobo that does its own psu checks.

who can really have a mobo that's balanced and stable while,
    there are psu's making popcorn.

so, my GA-7VT600-L dies, I get Dell GX280; then I find out about caps...

    GA-... had decent caps:
    - HM @1000uf & @1500uf, KZG @3300uf, WX(Vcc) @1200uf
its vantec 420A psu that I bought:
    - Fujiyuyu (whatever)
    - obviously cause of problems, the 2 WX's look fine.(protected through MOSFETs?)
(my voltage readings were getting worse, didn't understand why, back then.)

    Dell has decent caps, still:
    - HN, ZL, MCZ, MBZ, FL(Vcc? a bunch in a line in 2 places)
(can't find FL's specs, has panasonic 'M', may need ditching.)
    its Dell psu (came with):
    - Ltec

    note, on larger sized caps:
    mobo's: 20 to 60, and decent ones;
psu's: 8 to 12, and cheap crap. Time for a rebellion.

hmm ok, change bad-brand caps ASAP, ok.

what about 85c temp rating caps, ASAP too?
    - these are around cpu.

85*C around the CPU?? That's unheard of. the CPU caps are always 105*C
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

If the case is well ventilated, 85 degree caps elsewhere on the motherboard will probably be alright. But, if everything runs hot, they're from a known bad brand, or you have few/small/low airflow fans, you should upgrade them to 105 degree caps from a known good manufacturer.

the 85c cap is on the top right corner of cpu, and
                is beside the cpu_fan plug.
                220 uf @ 16v 6mm 85c (12v fan)
                - same as the 5 identical ones around the usb's.
(but they are closer to the pci-e than the cpu, and lower down.)
