Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 (1868) won't turn on
      by yomama07032
I have a Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 (1868) - 13.5 inch. It is the version with the i5, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB SSD. I believe the motherboard number is M1098028-008. It has been dead for a year and a half. I tried everything that is suggested on Microsoft's support website. I have the original power supply, and the white light on the power supply's connector turns on and stays on when it is connected to the laptop. Nothing happens when I try to turn on the laptop. The caps lock key's light does not turn on. There is absolutely no sign of life. I have also tried charging the laptop using the USB-C...

Help me troubleshoot my Aspire A715-75G's display connector
      by windorey
      Hello,

My Aspire A715-75G's display cable got snapped,
I thought a cable I have from an Aspire A315-56 would be compatible, seeing the same pinout in the schematic.

Very stupidly, without checking boardview files, I just connected my cable to my LCD panel and to my motherboard and suddenly the cable became very hot, and let out the magic smoke.

I have realised that the pinouts are the same, but mirrored, so I plug in the cable in reverse ( to mirror the pins ), but the motherboard doesn't turn on at all with it plugged in.

      When the cable's...

Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H with possible short on +3VL.
      by SarcasticOP
      Hello!

I am working on a Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H that will not take power when connected to the charger and will not turn on. The device was left in a car overnight when it got cold outside and no longer powers on. Inside the device was relatively clean and dust-free, and it did not have any immediate signs of liquid damage.

The boardview files are available over at https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...h-boot-problem. I am not sure of the etiquette...

Why does my ISP router hate my "homemade" power supply??
      by double_DD
      Hi all,

It's gonna be a long intro, so please buckle in, as it's a problem that's been bugging me for several days now. Thanks in advance.

So, I have 2 modems/routers, whatever the proper nomenclature is, one from ISP and one mine. I want to power them via USB-C rather then their original mains adapters (for reasons, that are hard to explain to sane people). Both routers come with 12V/3A mains adapters.
For this purpose I acquired USB-C charger with 250W and 5 ports, 2 of which can supply max 20V/3A. Since 12V isn't a standard PD voltage option (and to future proof,...

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43 Turns on Then Off..
      by Kooopa
Hi! I'm back again... so I solved my previous issue but now it's back with a vengeance...

First, history... previous issue was dead motherboard, blinking power LED, no fan spin nor LED backlight, which was caused by a missing SLP_S5#. This was fixed when I replaced the RTC crystal.

Which brings us to the present. The screen started glitching every other 2 seconds. The screen corruption looks like the horizontal pixels/scan-lines are being shifted to different spots. This also happens on the BIOS setup. So I thought, "Okay, this might be my LCD since the thing has...
