I have a Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 (1868) - 13.5 inch. It is the version with the i5, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB SSD. I believe the motherboard number is M1098028-008. It has been dead for a year and a half. I tried everything that is suggested on Microsoft's support website. I have the original power supply, and the white light on the power supply's connector turns on and stays on when it is connected to the laptop. Nothing happens when I try to turn on the laptop. The caps lock key's light does not turn on. There is absolutely no sign of life. I have also tried charging the laptop using the USB-C port. It still would not power on. No liquid was spilled. One day, it just stopped powering on.
I have a multimeter, and I would REALLY appreciate it if you guys could help me figure out what is wrong with the laptop. It would be amazing if you could tell me what to put my multimeter's leads on. I'm paranoid about causing damage by touching the wrong thing with the leads. If you would be so kind, please tell me what to use as ground and what to put the other lead on. Also, should the power supply be connected to the laptop when testing whatever you tell me to check? Should the SSD be connected or not (I ask because I understand that the SSD serves as a battery disconnect)? Do I have to completely remove the motherboard from the laptop to check the values you tell me to check? I have no problem removing it if necessary.
Searching this website, it appears that someone has posted the schematics and boardview. I don't have a background in repairing circuits, so I am not very familiar with reading schematics to figure out where to start testing. Here is the link: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...868-board-view
Let me know if you need any other information from me that I may have unintentionally left out.
Thank you very much in advance!
