    I doubt it would work.

For PC use it was a POS before it's little accident.
It's smashed too bad to be used.

the smash means nothing- a POS is a POS, hands down. fujicon can go to hell, only good chinese caps are samxons.

                      Kind of has a point.
fujicon is Chinese junk and you need low ESR for PSU's too.

                      To me Samxon are questionable.
Two or three series seem to have problems while others don't.

What size is that cap (diameter, height?)

Looks awfully small to be 2200uf.

I kind of feel the same way about samxon. I will use them in psu's, but I don't know about motherboards.

Dented caps are a hit or miss if the dent compromised the insulator between the two foils then the cap is toast (shorted).

If the dent compromised the seal (dented near the bottom) the cap may work now but will fail in the future due to evaporating electrolyte. If the dent (depending on the size and depth) exposes the seal to too much pressure the cap will fail in the future (when the seal blows).

Other than those above I don't see a dent causing any more trouble.

In any case I would never use a damaged cap but it's interesting to think about how things like this affect them on a functional level.

I agree with the others no point recapping if you're putting more crap in it's place.

I also agree that Samxon had a few bad series of caps the GF series being one the comes to mind but so did Nichicon they also had some bad batches with the HN and HM series.

Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.
