Several years old but new cap still OK?

I found this guy in China is selling 2005-09 Rubycon MCZ caps.

120PCS 560uF 6.3V Rubycon MCZ PC CAPACITORS NEW!

Would the capacitance goes down & ESR goes up after 3-4 years?

Anyone bought from this guy before?

The seller has been okay to me.

I've used older [5-6 years old] NOS caps with no problems.
Technically you should 'reform' them which is rebuilding the oxide layer by applying rated voltage for a while.
I cheat and when I first boot a recapped board with NOS caps I let it sit at the bios screen for an hour or two before I put any real load on it.
    Haven't had any problems.

well, if you had recapped a mobo, it wise to not give it a serius load yet. just let it run in the bios. for how much long? i think 15-30mnt is enough.

so the same with PSU. best if u have a dummy load, not to lightly but not too heavy either. just to the point that it will behave like normal (all rails sit in spec). or if u have a p3 system to be sacrificed, that's even better (becarefull with the 12v load though, 12v dummy load is still need to balance the load, imo).

i said that, but very often i just put them to serius load, so im not wise

According to this link the rule of thumb is to apply rated voltage for 5 minutes plus 1 minute for each month of storage.

So 5 year old caps would be 65 minutes.
On the mobo it won't be at 'rated voltage' but realistically that doesn't matter because the oxide layer adjusts it's thickness to the actual applied voltage over time anyway.
            - A new 16v rated cap on 12v 'reforms down' to 12v after a while. [unforms?]
            .
The PSU's regulation serves the purpose of the resistor they mention. [over current]

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
                by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

ASUS P5A and P2B-S recapping. Searching old datasheets.

                Hi,

I'd like to recap some of my old mainboards (they are from 1998) before switching them on again for the first time after many years in storage. All caps still look good from the outside.
                There are three mainboards:
                - ASUS P5A rev 1.04
                - ASUS P2B-S rev 1.03 "Rubycon"
                - ASUS P2B-S rev 1.03 "Chemi-Con"

If you are interested in their specs, The Retro Web has pages for the P5A and the P2B-S.

They all have many 1000uF 6.3V 105°C capacitors. But there are some differences I cannot figure out.

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
                by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Infamous Rubycon MFZ... Current recommended replacements???
                by bjs59
What we have here today is an Intel DG33FB motherboard, circa 2007... I need to replace some of the caps on this board... From what I have found, one of these caps was sort of well known here back in the day as they were used in XBoxes and XBox 360s as well....They are the Rubycon MFZ series, in particular the 6.3 v 3300uf 10mm X 20mm... I have found a seller on Amazon, The Capacitor Store, that has them listed but I have a hard time believing these are genuine pieces... The original recommendation was to replace any bad ones with Nichicon HZ series since the Rubycon MFZ's were a custom product,...

Customer with SS AMP not used in years
                by Uranium-235
He has a pioneer SA 608, matching Tuner (TS 608) and Tape deck (CT F600) and a pointless timer (DT 400)...late 70's early 80's from my research

We're going to try to focus this as a Turntable setup (his turntable is a seemingly cheapo from like 10 years ago...but it does have a phono out), which is at least comforting because the amp has a phono input. It also had a USB port, looks pretty cheap

I'm trying to go for an all analog here. What is the likely problematic caps? Power? I've never dealt with amps this old and of this type. I replaced them in a cheap yamaha...
