    Where to get caps and their part numbers

    New to this forum, so bear with me please.

    I have spent the past two days reading this very helpful site and then going to the various sites in an attempt to order caps. I called Mouser and their tech acted like he didn't know what low ESR meant and couldn't help me. I know just enough about electronics to be dangerous and would really appreciate getting some help getting the part numbers for these caps. Mouser or Digi-Key would be ok. I've tried finding the caps I need from this site but some of the parts are not listed. I have a GX270 computer and need the following caps:
    5 - 1500uf 6.3v 10mm
    1 - 680uf 10v
    5 820uf 6.3v 8mm
    10 1800uf 6.3v 8mm
    5 1800uf 16v 10mm

    I am wanting 7 sets of these caps. Can anyone provide the individual Mouser or Digi-Key part number and price so that I can order these caps and stock them for inventory. The brand and style identifications to me are confusing and I just want to get these parts on order.

    I'd like to also get for stock the following caps:

    5 - 1000uf 16v 8mm
    5 - 680uf 16v 8mm
    5 - 100uf 10v
    6 - 470uf 16v
    1 - 2200uf 6.3 v
    1 - 3300 6.3v
    1 - 2200 10v

    I don't have the diameter on some of these, but I'm sure you all know what I need. Also see a quantity of 8 - 820uf 4v caps on a Dimenstion 8400 board. Do these fail?

    Some of these caps are not available from DigiKey. The recommended series for motherboards from them are primarily Panasonic FM and secondary United Chemi-Con KZE, and those are not available in 1800uF. Also DigiKey are out of stock for 1000uF 16v 8mm (Panasonic FM only). Below are the ones available from DigiKey.

      Welcome to the Forum.

      Ummm.... they sell a Dell GX270 capacitor kit here at BadCaps.
      Why would you want to search around when you can get the whole set here?

        Would anyone be able to tell me if there is any significant difference in performance between a 6.3v 1500uF cap that is 10mm thick or wide and is 1/2" tall or one with those same specs that is 3/4" tall? I am trying to replace caps on a Dell GX270 motherboard. Thanks for any help.

          There should be no significant difference in performance between the two caps.

          The first step in any recapping project is to determine the capacitance and voltage of the caps. The next step is to determine the physical size of any caps that are crowded together, or have height restrictions. When selecting replacements always go with a corresponding series of caps from a good manufacturer. There is a thread on this board listing both good and bad manufacturers.

            Size can be significant, as ESR varies with physical size. The only way to be sure, is to look up the datasheet of the old caps and the new caps. The safe way to select new caps, is to find replacements with same or lower ESR, same or higher ripple, same uF, same or higher V that fits physically from the list of of known good caps.

            If in doubt, list the old caps here (manufacturer, series and values), and someone will help recommend replacements.

              You can't compare caps based just on the size if they are different series' of caps.

              If the two caps are in the same series then the one with the larger can will have lower ESR.
