cracked solder joints - lots of them.

inc the white molex connector at the bottom and the transistor with a heatsink hotglued(??) to the relays at the top

I'll give them all a check,

What about the no AC readings on the 15v out on the transformer?

check the resistance of the winding
btw, given how extortionate they are - i would not use a new original transformer.

          Re: Jura X90 Capacitor

How do I check resistance, I mean between what contact, both inputs or both both 15v output pins. Or from input to output?

The one I linked to earlier in the thread is only £15 pretty good, says seller refurbished but assume are just pulls from used machines.

Resistance is 1.3ohm on the secondary 15v side

              then it's good
              (probably)
it should not show anything if you meter between the 15v and 9v or primary btw.

It's 0L on the input side though?

                  hmm.
the input should be readable, so should both outputs, but not between each other.
if the input is open - all is not lost.

                    Re: Jura X90 Capacitor

With the input being open basically suggests a power surge or simple failure.

More importantly if the secondary side was defective would suggest something further down the line drew too much current damaging the secondary side.?

So with that perhaps the board is ok

no, the board has broken joints.

                      now back to the transformer.
make sure the secondary's are both good and neither have a reading to the primary pins or each other.
if that's o.k. we shall investigate the 2 most common failures.
1: wire broken off the terminal
                      2: blown thermal fuse.

I mean I read that if something is shorted it would / could damage the secondary side. I will retouch all the joints as do seem a bit brittle.

No reading between seconday side and primary and no reading between 9v and 15v

                          o.k.
well normally if you overload a transformer, the primary takes the hit because the windings are thinner.
to prevent fires, there is a thermal fuse in most transformers - and it can usually be replaced.

but you probably should check the board for shorts - specially the diodes.

Capacitor detached from PCB – RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition

                              Description:
During maintenance on an RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition, I found a capacitor lying on my desk after reassembly.
I did not notice it detaching, so I am unsure of its original location on the PCB.

                              Procedure performed:
                              - Removed backplate
                              - Cleaned heatsink and PCB with isopropyl alcohol + soft ESD brush
                              - Reapplied thermal compound
                              - Reassembled card

                              Observed behavior after reassembly:
                              - GPU powers on and operates normally under...

Hi people, I hope this is the correct spot to post this, I'm new to the forum.

I have an RTX 3080 Founders Edition which has a burnt up capacitor (it was in parallel with another capacitor which appears damaged too), so I am hoping to be able to identify the capacitor values and order replacements.

I hope these photos make it clear which component I am referring to:
(yes, the soldering is a bit botched from removing the blown one, I know)

I have found the board schematic (attached), but there does not seem to be a boardview available. I have never...

Dick Smith Q-1760 linear power supply filter capacitor question
                              by Agent24
I have acquired a used Dick Smith Q-1760 power supply - although the OEM is Manson Industrial
It has at least one problem.

The voltage control potentiometer VR2, 50K is faulty - going high resistance / open circuit in the CCW end and leading to the output voltage jumping around.
I have already ordered a replacement potentiometer, so that's not an issue.

Now, I want to replace all three electrolytics on the PCB as they are CapXon and I don't trust them so much, I will replace them with something better while I've got the thing apart anyway.
                              All are CapXon...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
                              by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...

How can I test non-polarized capacitor?
                              by chth96
I desoldered samwha NF capacitor(50v 5.6uf) from PCB circuit of 29inch CRT TV which have symptoms of no display after I heard sound of inrush of current to TV whenever I switch on this television.
I measured ESR value of this non-polarized capacitor(samwha NF capacitor 50v 5.6uf) by means of MESR-100 ESR meter and It displayed 0.3 ohm

And When I measured its capacitance with digital multimeter and LCR-T4 Mega328 meter, It displayed 10uf from DMM and 8uf from LCR-T4 meter.
I found catalogue of samwha capacitor(samwha-catalogue_3.pdf file), which is attached to this thread,...
