    old capacitor

    trying to identify this old thing from the 50s to replace with a new one .i dont know how to read the values to match with a new one and the local shops have no idea. not much info on the web either .

    worn print, but: probably 82uF 350v axial electrolytic.
    or it could be 32uF - but 82 is unlikely to harm it.

    i would use an 82uF 400v radial electrolytic - they are very easy to find.
    they are used in psu's in everything from dvd players to set-top boxes.

      top row MFD VW VP
      lower---32 300 350
      and TYPE ET5B

        then i would get a 47uF 400v radial electrolytic - preferably rated for 105' temperatures

        btw, radial = both wires at the same end.
        axial = one wire each end - pretty costly unusual these days.

        MFD = Micro-Farads (uF)
        VW = Working Voltage(maximum)
        VP = Pulse Voltage(maximum)

          you can get 33uF 400v too, but they are less common.
