    Trying to diagnose possible PSU issue with my coffee machine

    Hi all,

    I've got an integrated coffee machine which stopped powering on yesterday. Prior to this it would sporadically switch its self off and sometimes would just have flickering LED lights on the front of the machine.

    When I plug in the machine now I can hear a high pitched chirping noise coming from the PSU area. I have recorded it and uploaded it here: https://instaud.io/cSe

    I have taken the coffee machine apart and cannot se any obviously bulging capacitors, but could the noise still be a sign of a bad cap?

      sounds like a bad small cap, or a short circuit on the psu output.
      the small ones wont bulge or leak when they fail - you need an esr meter or just change them.

          My Gevalia coffee maker with clock/timer literally blew up and caught fire. Luckily I was in the room when it happened and quickly removed it to where I could put out the small fire from the plastic. There was hardly anything left to examine but I suspect it was a bad SMPS with a bad cap.

              Umm dude you should report that. There could be a serious hazard to owners of that unit that wouldn't be aware of it.

                  Transformer replacement for a dead coffee machine

                  Hi guys,

                  I have a dead coffee machine, and it seems that the culprit (no 1, at least) is a dead trafo - primary coil seems to be blown open (type shown on the picture below).

                  Now, I'm unable to find direct replacement anywhere on ebay or aliexpress, and all similar that I' was able to find are rated too low (<1A).

                  If someone knows a shop to buy replacement (EU/CH), that would of course be my 1st option.
                  My other ideas:
                  - to buy 220/20Vac trafo with 30VA, and to "manually" create secondary 12V output just via resistor
                  - to buy...

                  Hello. Have a known good Saeco SG200E Coffee machine but the internal hose from the pump were disconnected. Would someone be kind enough to share a few clear pics of the inside of this machine so we can reconnect the hose plumbing again? Many thanks....

                  Hi there!
                  My friend wants me to help him repair his old-real-vintage strong-hammer machine. Well it's only 90% real as the force applied doesn't lift the weight itself but it is measured and it moves a motor that lifts the weight

                  I am attaching several pictures of the machine.
                  It basically has 2 sides, left side has
                  • 2 x 220->12+24v transformers
                  • 2 relays (1 moves motor UP, other moves motor DOWN)
                  • IGF and breakers for safety
                  Right side is shown on pictures. It has 3 boards ( top-down)
                  • Logic board. Receives 24AC and recitifies it into DC. Contains a uC (M80C85)

                  AEG coffee machine no steam

                  Hi. I have a built in AEG model PE3810-M coffee machine after about 2 years from new it had a problem were no steam would come out of the wand so i paid £80 to have it repaired after 6 months the same faulty happened again but the repairers said they only give 3 months warranty so we just left it sat there but now i'm wanting to get some use out of it, i'm 80-90% its one of the solenoids as waters still come out by the wand and the bit where it makes coffee, I've made sure all the pipes are cleared and can hear the pumps going but just not sure and don't want to start wasting money on parts unless...
