    MSI 694D Pro ver 1 (MS-6321) Help!

    Hi,
I have a MSI 694D Pro ver 1 (MS-6321) have had it for a while now but have only had one processor installed and it works fine. But since buying and installing second cpu it wont even boot up until i take it out.I have since tried other cpu's with same result.Ihave also replaced psu
with no luck.I was wondering if you or someone else has seen this prob before and had fixed it buy replacing caps. And where can i get the caps here in Australia i have searched but with no luck or can i get them from you?
    thanks

I've seen that with bad caps. However, I've also seen it with bad or, more commonly, mismatched CPUs.

Of course, if any of the caps show physical signs of failing, you can make a pretty good bet they're a problem...

However, check that both cpus are identical. Also try swapping the first and second cpu. And, of course, test the second cpu by itself in the first slot to be sure it's good. Only coppermine cpus will work in dual-mode on it; celerys will only work as a single cpu. You might also want to try clearing the CMOS with both cpus in.

As to where to get caps over there... afraid I can't help you much. You can ask topcat really nicely if he'll internationally ship them to you, but it's probably not going to be cheap. If you go to local electronics stores, make sure they're a good brand, and low esr. It doesn't matter if they're slightly too large, as they're not densely packed on the 694d, and you can just leave the leads a little long and squish them to the side whenever they don't fit.

ppga celeron does work in dual on this board.
      fcpga(coppermine)do not.
      coppermine p3 fcpga work dual.
      what cpu's do you have?

Yes, but the ppga celerys only go up to... 466? been a while since I've seen one. Not much point in doing them dual over a single fcpga one, seeing as they're both near free.

i have some 533 ppga here.not much use for overclocking so i use em to test recapped bp6 and 694d.
if the smoke leaks no big loss.

            Hi
yes I've tried swapping cpu's (pair 933 p3) and also pair 866 p3 still only works with cpu1 installed only :x only thing i havent tried is clearing cmos with cpu's installed(but not goin to hold my breath)but i have noticed some bulging on a few caps. So guess its bad cap replacement time!
Thank You all for your help.

the easy choices would be :

                  http://www.rswww.com.au/ for the panasonic FC
                  http://au.farnell.com/jsp/home/homepage.jsp for the rubycon ZL

there must be other choices also but those are the majors. please note that those caps are 10mm width and if you have closely spaced 8mm caps it will be difficult or look kinda ghetto.

please post pictures of your success. it is nice to see that badcaps is so international. cheers to TC. if this is your first time replacing caps, please read the forums and practice on an old board not only removing the caps but cleaning the holes and replacing them with the cheapest caps. learn what is a good solder joint. Dont start immediately on your board, it is important to learn the technique well before you start. dont worry and take your time. following some good practice it is very likely that you will succeed.

Procedural question about BGA rework and removal of CPUs
                    by ugamazing
I have been working to develop a consistent and reliable method/workflow for removing, re-balling, and replacing CPUs on various MacBook Pro models (2015-2020).

I have done OK so far, but there's one detail I need to sort out. I'm hoping someone much more experienced than myself may be able to shed some light:

I am noticing the pulled CPUs (to be re-balled) come off fine, and they "look" fine as well, immediately when I pull them. However, within a few minutes, after cooling, the CPU chips develop a very, very slight curve/bend. It's SO SLIGHT, maybe a 1-2%...

Dell Optiplex 760 USFF BIOS Mod Request for QuadCore CPUs
                    by Nebukadnerzar_V
                    Hi guys!
                    I have a Dell Optiplex 760 USFF (Ultra-Small Form-Factor).
It currently only supports Dual-Core CPUs and will halt with an error message, when a QuadCore is installed.

I have seen people running QuadCores in these machines, but the BIOS needs to be modded.
Since I have not found the modded BIOS to download anywhere, I am asking you guys for help:

Could you please add support for QuadCore CPUs (in my case the Core2Quad Q9550) to the BIOS?

I have attached the Dump of my machine.

                    S/N: SRW2K4J
                    Reg Model: DCTR...

Working with Bga chips especially CPUS
                    by ducky29
Hello. I mostly do small electronics and tv repairs. I am confident with small bga chips but I never was successful with removing large chips especially cpus. Is it possible to remove them just using a preheater and hot air gun or I need something more advanced like a bga machine with temperature profiles, cooling fans, etc etc.

Any suggestion on aliexpress/ebay are welcomed. I am on a tight budget, max I can do is about 200$. Please anyone with more experience can give me some suggestions?

                    Thanks in advance.

                    Asus M2N-E uses AM3 CPUs?
                    by bigbeark
Accordng to the ASUS website, if you apply BIOS 5001 you can use Socket AM3 CPUs on the M2N-E motherboard.

I have two of these boards that are working. The CPU support info on the ASUS site says you can use ATHLON II X2 CPUs, Athlons II X3, and even Athlon II X4 CPUs.
These CPUs seem to be readily available at reasonable prices. There are some that consume as little as 45 watts.

The notes say "Due to Bios ROM size limitation remove LAN PXE ROM and change Crashfree3 to Crashfree".

I assume these are options in the BIOS setup you can...

                    Blast from the past #2: MSI 694D-Pro A ver:1.0
                    by Aetherone
With the success of my Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe recap project, I'm turning my attention to the other benchmark board in my history - the venerable MSI 694D-Pro A.

Wayyyyyy back in the day, I paired one of these (in protoype orange PCB no less) with a pair of 366 Celerons for a world of fun. That board was flawless from day #1 (well, aside from the usual VIA issues with sound cards and Promise getting narky about additional HDD controllers). Wish I'd never sold it off.

The current board is one of a hundred examples from a teaching college near the IT shop I used...
