Who else collects bad caps ?

6 months ago I decided to start collecting bad caps that I collect from repairs ect. Normally I would just throw them away but after seeing a Maxxarcade video of him talking about collecting bad caps and that he had a large box I decided to start my hoard. After only 6 moths I have nearly filled a large packet that originally contained a new fuse switch board, I was amazed as before I didnt realise how many bad caps I have to replace its actually shocking as most are either failed or are a junk cap. At the end of the year I will throw this packet in the outdoor wood burner and watch them perish.

I collect them too. Usually with the intention of putting them all into a fire and blowing them up.

I also have a box with the bad caps, but I do not know why they keep, can be a pity to throw away. It is necessary to make a photo...

I am going to intend to burn them at the end of every year its fun to watch

The only down side is that keeping them in an open box stinks out my room with a 'fishish' (if that's even a word) odour so I keep them in a sealed bad, any how I now know that the devices these craps were taken form are now safe from bad caps, I only use quality caps.

For some reason I collected all the badcaps I pulled as well... I don't know why either.

I collect them just to see how much would amass over time and its quite shocking when you have nearly filled a bag this size over 6 months.

Hey I thought I was alone here. I save not only bad caps but resistors, ICs and most all of the faulty parts I change. I guess I feel a bit sad to throw them away as some would have given me a good fight to identify as defective. Eventually I would discard them in the dump but soon start another collection. But I think it might be better to just get rid of them as they take up valuablr space and can't be used for anything, unless you are into trash art.

I know what you mean, normally when I replace transistors ect I throw them because they dont bang or blow in the fire pit, but now you gave me te idea to start collecting them lol.

Im guessing that you work for a company then, I work at home as im collage all week keeps my bills paid and I do get alot of money from repairs, but when I leave Iam looking into getting a job in digiland that repairs tv's, computers ect or getting an apprenticeship with fujitsu.

I don't have any bad (failed) caps, mainly due to these already being fried in the fire bin (a retired ATX case with the top removed and the sides screwed back on). Note to self, collect more flat batteries!

I do have a large collection of working caps though, although they are not necessarily good brands - if they are in spec, I keep them; if not, they go in the fire bin.

Same here. 9 times out of 10, the customer doesn't want failed components back.

Such rules, but in reality, of course, a rare client requires him to return the defective parts.

Lol just pulled around 15 crapxon GL's off a 37" samsung the were added to the bag.
