Used a slightly lower ripple rating for replacement...

Had a Dell Dimension come in that was somewhat urgent. Originals were 8x20mm 6.3v 1800uF 12ohm/2350mA.

I had matching replacements on hand except the ripple was 2220mA -- I'd like to think that they don't push tolerances quite that far so as to make ~100mA be a crucial requirement.

Is this ok? I did it in the meantime regardless, so I guess what I'm asking is if I should take the time to replace them with a same/higher ripple replacement or leave them as-is.

It's a 2GB box running Vista, so if they go bad in 3-4 years it's not the end of the world.

    Any recommmendations would be appreciated.

Should be just fine. But running Vista on 2GB? Even if it's a stable designed-for system I'd think it would be S L O W.

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
        by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.

        Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
        by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...

Dick Smith Q-1760 linear power supply filter capacitor question
        by Agent24
I have acquired a used Dick Smith Q-1760 power supply - although the OEM is Manson Industrial
It has at least one problem.

The voltage control potentiometer VR2, 50K is faulty - going high resistance / open circuit in the CCW end and leading to the output voltage jumping around.
I have already ordered a replacement potentiometer, so that's not an issue.

Now, I want to replace all three electrolytics on the PCB as they are CapXon and I don't trust them so much, I will replace them with something better while I've got the thing apart anyway.
        All are CapXon...

        Audio Linear Power Supply (LPS)
        by Bugmanscj
Hi: Found this forum fumbling over the net looking for replacement capacitors for a high quality 2uv ripple model Kaia, Core Audio Technology LPS. I bought it used on fleabay and figured I would have to recap and sure enough one of the 22,000uf 35V 105c caps is bulging. These supplies were made briefly around 2014 for MAC Mini audio servers, and were quite costly at the time ($1.7k), you know it's audio... I will use it for a video processor power supply to replace a switched version. I figure it's a low cost attempt to see/hear what difference it might make in my system. Plus I get to learn...

        Replacement capacitor options please?
        by Hylax
Hi, I'm super new to this capacitor stuff but I've some basic soldering experience with old cellphones PCBs and headphones. I have this APAQ AR5K 820∆μF 3V Dc Capacitor from a motherboard that I'm looking to replace, photos I've attached. But I'm unable to find a 3V one like I've marked in the spec sheet in red (This is the one currently present in the motherboard). But the 6.3V one I can find (marked in blue) is of similar dimensions but different specs as mentioned in the table. Is it okay to replace it with higher voltage cap, slightly higher ESR, slightly lower ripple current, and double...
