Can Anyone Help With My Bad Caps...

Hi there. Im new to the forum so forgive me if I make any newbie mistakes lol. I basically have a Samsung LE32B651T. As u probably know Samsung put out quite a few TVs that went wrong due to bad caps and was even taken to court over it and now fixes any with the complaint for free. Unfortunately they said my model had not enough complaints and so wasnt on the list.

Iv had the same problems as everyone else, where id hear the clicking noise and where my TV would just turn on and off on its own. Recently tho it actually just gave up and the whole screen had these green lines and the picture was gone.

I camne across alot of people sayin that you can quite easily repair this urself so i was wondering does anyone know what the set of caps i need to buy are for this TV and where I might get them from. I have a friend who has a soldering iron and can do this for me. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't already, open up your TV to see if bulging capacitors on the power board are actually the problem. If so, then list all the values (Along with brand and series) of the capacitors and we can link new capacitors for you.

I have already opened up the TV but i didnt actually see any bulging heads. But i did read the heads didnt need to be bulging to have gone. I then put it back together again and then when the screen recently went green I heard a bang which might have been a cap. I will open it up again. Is there now way of knowing the caps by the make and model of the TV?

In a word No! unless you can find a kit on ebay which has a list of contents
there is no way. Even then it may not be exact for your set. You could also look for a schematic but again the manufacturer may have changed the caps used to what the schematic says. You will also need a multimeter to do tests.
Post good clear pictures of back and front of the boards in your set. We may be able to spot problems you cant see.
By not replacing the caps and dealing with the problem when it first arose there is probably more damage than just bad caps.

Ok can you edit your pictures so they dont open in line - just leave the thumbnails at the bottom- we dont need them everytime the thread opens.
Have you got a digital multimeter - caps dont look bad - not that they might not be

Instead of all the pictures of the caps can we have pictures of the other boards and the bottom of this one?

Re: Can Anyone Help With My Bad Caps...

i just fixed one of those,
there are a couple of startup caps i'd change.

before you ask, the fault on the one here was physical damage from someone tripping over the cable.
so i cant talk about what makes them fail.

Re: Can Anyone Help With My Bad Caps...

The problem is the pictures - I did tell you - and then you posted some more!!!
Unfortunately you cant do much about it as they had to be deleted within 1 hour
                        of posting.

My suggestion would be start a new thread with a sensible heading that quotes
the make and model of the machine and brief detail of problem eg
Doesnt come on but has power led
                        Power led doesnt come on.
Comes on sound but no picture.

Read some other threads see what others do/say

Pictures should be less than 2mb.jpg just post good clear picture of the front and back of each board - straight on no flash so daylight is best.
                        POst using manage attachments
