I have a Vizio vp322 that has the power problem that seems to be a common topic on-line. I took it to a repair shop that offered free estimates and they said it was a power board that they could replace for $140. Since I inherited this tv and Vizio says it's 5 years old, I started searching for cheaper alternatives.
Note that when I took the tv in to the shop, I could get the tv to power on after about 2 minutes of pressing the power button and eventually getting the white Vizio logo to stay lit. But after I picked it up from the shop after declining the repair, it won't even go into standby mode with the orange light lit.
I took the cover off and looked at the capacitors, but didn't see any bulging or leakage that all the photos of bad capacitors on-line use to identify bad parts . But my question is: Can they still be bad or be too weak to power up the tv, even if they don't bulge or leak? If so, I think I'd try to replace them before junking the tv.
Any help from one of your knowledgeable forum members will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
