  • Re: Capacitors look ok can they still be bad?

Sounds like a good idea. Didn't realize the tool could be that cheap. I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to use it. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I don't have any electrical tools (or very much electrical knowledge, to be honest. I'm pretty handy otherwise, though.)

But as long as they can be bad without having any tell-tale visual symptoms, I guess I'll try replacing them.

I have a Vizio vp322 that has the power problem that seems to be a common topic on-line. I took it to a repair shop that offered free estimates and they said it was a power board that they could replace for $140. Since I inherited this tv and Vizio says it's 5 years old, I started searching for cheaper alternatives.

Note that when I took the tv in to the shop, I could get the tv to power on after about 2 minutes of pressing the power button and eventually getting the white Vizio logo to stay lit. But after I picked it up from the shop after declining the repair, it won't even go...
