That chip is the main I/O controller for most of the board.
Unfortunately if that is shot the board pretty much is too.
They can be replaced if you are VERY VERY good at soldering [or have the fancy expensive tools] but I think you'll find it's easier, faster, and probably less expensive to replace the board.
[Just finding a new chip can be a major project sometimes and they aren't always cheap.]
I don't even try to fix those unless I have a good replacement chip on an otherwise dead board in the scraps box.
    .
Looks like it took a voltage spike or had an excessive current problem.
Could have been from bad caps, bad PSU, disconnecting something with power applied, or some voltage regulator chip failed.
    .
I'm sure that's the last thing you want to hear after you have all that work into it.
    .
Here's the data sheet for that chip.

I've replace most of the caps with poly, including the 10V D6,3mm. Now i just have to test it for several days to make sure that the problem has been solved, which i doubt. I also see a toasted path on the back side of the PCB.

This board does has alot of problem but for now it seems to run faster and more stable, hasn't crashed or reboot suddenly after complete recap. We'll see the outcome in a week. Next time i'll be more thorough when inspecting physical failure sign.

That's the right way to think.

Re: Intel DG965RY power on every time main AC power connected

Hi PCBONEZ,I have tested the mainboard for a week now and I just want to update the result of this Intel mainboard.

Although the mainboard has a burned I/O chip and also a broken circuit line, the mainboard in fact is running flawlessly and faster than before
The previous BSOD error (Hard error and Memory dump) are caused by a faulty Hard Drive
I have test the board with other Hard Drive for almost a week now and it's running perfectly, never encounter any BSOD, hang or sudden reboot. It's rather weird huh?
But I'm really glad about it. So that also means that my Poly Mod are successful Thank you very much for all the forum members that helped me with this

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

              Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Acer Predator Helios 300 - will not power up if battery is CONNECTED
              by survivalbloke
This was a no power initially. Thanks to your help, I discovered it was the first mosfet, so I replaced. Now, the device will power up only if the battery is NOT connected. As soon as I connect the battery, it shuts off. If I connected the battery while the device is off, it simply will not respond to the power button. I replaced the battery, and while I suppose the new battery could be faulty, I'm assuming it is not. I'm having the same behavior with the new battery. I measure .2v at the charging coil. Manually applying power to the + and - at the battery header, there is no charging happening....

My Oled Tv is 55inch tv, 3 days ago I notice that middle of the screen is getting warmer and on picture I have ghosting, missing red color. Color red was still displaying, but it was not so strong as corners of the screen and watching some movies makes me angry.
Then I get an idea to take it apart and clean boards from dust.
In side of Tv was not so bad, I take compressed air in can, and gently blow up.

Also I was thinking to styrofoam sponge to isolate power board from screen that the middle of the screen will not worm so much. Because Led on screen when gets higher...
