Why do manufacturers still use UCC KZGs while they must know they are bad?

    So,

I've been thinking. If you are going to use a pretty good quality cap brand like Chemi-con (and pay for it), why the hell would you waste it on KZG when you know they will go bad. And they can't be unaware. You sell boards on a massive scale...you do you research on the components you use.

I've been looking at the boards on Newegg, where they have some really nice 360degree DSLR macro shots that are good enough to identify the markings on the capacitors. Seriously....like half the boards use KZGs.

If you are intentionally trying to cheap out (ECS/Biostar etc), then just use crap caps like OSTs and whatever Chinese scum you can scrape up. But, what's the point in paying for a legitimate brand but getting a crap product.

Please, just use Panasonics/Nichicon HNs or something. This is really getting on my nerves. Freaking ASUS is equipping 90% of their low-tier boards with them and the other 10% get Taiwanese BS.

    I just don't get it.

    Peace.

Don't complain. If it weren't for KZG, I would not find some prime 775 and hopefully 1156 motherboards this year on the curb.
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Haha excellent point. My friend got a new monitor about 6 months ago. He said his other one broke.

I asked him if I could have it.

Of course, he had nothing to do with it anymore.

I now have a brandy new Acer monitor. =D

Perhaps it's because UCC are selling off KZGs cheap due to being backlogged with them due to them being rubbish??

KZG/KZJ generally last long enough for the warranty to run out and then they can sell you a new board.

Other than Chemicon the only Jap manufacturers left making that grade of cap are Suncon/Sanyo [WG], Nichicon [HM/HN], and Panasonic [FJ/FL].

Rubycon dropped MBZ/MCZ. There aren't going to be any more.

Only KZJ and HN are comparable to MCZ.
Since KZJ are crap that leaves HN. - One other choice..

That's a shame. But then again, motherboards manufacturers are putting polymers in place of electrolytics in most of the key places, so it might not even matter.

                    PCBONEZ -

What ever happened to NIC Components? Their caps were discussed here a while back. Did they ever produce low-ESR electrolytics? Anything even FC class?

NIC Components has a few good parts but the company is small and they don't market very well.
                        - I never see them offered except rarely on eBay.
                        .
Hitano is another little known Jap-Cap Co with a few good low ESR caps at the lower end [like FC, PW, LXZ,,,,,]
                        - Never see their caps for sale much either. At least not the low ESR series'.
                        .
Elna also, but those give audiophiles a woodie so they cost 2x-3x what equivalent caps in another brand cost.
