I got a dual p3 1.46ghz with 4gb ram that i plan to build intoa wooden case. (ill need help designing that later lol) but meanwhile i have suspicions about the caps used. There are lots of sanyo caps, most of the with the weird K vent, but some of the bigger ones have a weird vent shape. I could describe it as part of a chain-link fence maybe? Also, the green part is pulled way far on top of the caps. Pics may come tonight but i think you get the idea!

Re: Counterfeit sanyo caps?
Sanyo can get a bit...sloppy...with their sleeve cutting at times, esp. compared to the other Japanese brands. I've seen large diameter (12.5mm+) Sanyo caps with a different vent style. I can't recall off the top of my head what it looks like, but I'd recognize it if I saw a picture.

Re: Counterfeit sanyo caps?
I sent caps into Sanyo for validation a while back and according to Sanyo they only used the K vent.

Re: Counterfeit sanyo caps?
They gave it to me in writing so I could send it into eBay.
Which I did.
And eBay STILL didn't do a fucking thing.

Re: Counterfeit sanyo caps?
i and several others have reported the counterfiet rubycons on ebay.these are blatent fakes with panasonic style vent stamps.still for sale!
pain in the ass to use the ebay reporting page as there are no dropdowns for other and fill in the reason.
bottom line is they dont care and if a so called power seller is the offender they let it slide.this is what will kill them off.and we thought the assinine rules for sellers would be the cause.
ebay has been as good as dead for me for about 3 years.
and the usual suspects with all the fakes have good feedback so you cant even trust that.

Re: Counterfeit sanyo caps?
All the Sanyo caps I've seen that are 10mm diameter or less had the K vent. All the Sanyo caps I've seen that are 12.5mm diameter or more had the elongated X vent.
I've only seen the larger Sanyos in power supplies, nothing on a motherboard.
I also see Sanyo caps rather infrequently, so my experience can hardly be called conclusive.
