    Elna capacitors - fake?

    Hi,

I have capacitors like this one in the photo. There are differences between other Elna series, I attach foto of Elna RE3. On this green capacitors series is not specified! Fake?

it's old - atleast if the datecode is real.
why does the vent have dirt in it?
    is the top even flat?

The top is OK, no dirt in the vent. Parameters are good, capacitance (all 100 pcs) is 47uF>, ESR about 1R.

        1ohm sounds high

I think it's not bad for 47uF 16V, not Low ESR. I've compared with other parts with the same parameters, and the results are similar.

you say it's not low esr, but it is 105' temp rated.

1ohm is too much for this caps? I don't have datasheet so is not possible to check.

i looked at a bunch of random datasheets for 105' but average esr caps
rubycon YXF for example is 0.9ohm

For small caps in 5x11 size, 1 Ohm at room temperature is not abnormal at all... even for low ESR series. For GP (non-low-impedance) caps, even up to 2-3 Ohms may be OK, depending on room temperature and age of the cap. In any case, 2-3 Ohms still not considered out of spec.

BTW, the light-green Elna might be a low-leakage type cap. A lot of older light-colored sleeve caps were typically low leakage type meant for audio circuits / signal coupling.

Probably you are right. This caps are bigger than my other caps with the same parameters. And I compared with many photos on internet, and I think they ae not fake. But I'm still not one hundred percent sure.
