    toshiba A200 la3481p

this laptop has a charge problem:
    it did not charge battery:
    1. it works if AC only plugged in
    2. i tried new battery and it will charge for less than one minute then the red led will be off and it displays: plugged in, not charging and the battery will reduce what it is holding charge, even if AC is plugged.
new battery, new adapter with 6a

check all pins of charging ic and comparate to ic schematic

even new things can be broken

agree with KTM , somethimes does ebat batterys are defective ( but best option is to chek the voltages present on the charger IC its usually near the ram socket and the dc in (cpu side board view)

i already changed the ic pu4 isl6251 with no success. i put the battery on another laptop it worked good.
but i noticed that it will remain charging for about 1~2 minutes then shut down when isl6251 becomes hot

with Ac and no battery: pin 4.8.10=0v and PQ16 source and PQ 18 drain=18.5v
with battery but no AC: pin 4.8.10=0v and PQ16 source and PQ 18 drain=11.4v
with Ac and battery: (when led is orange first 1~2 minutes)=pin 4= 5v pin8=2.58v and pin10=0.47v and PQ16 source and PQ 18 drain=up and down between 11.74v and 12.0v
but after that voltages on pins 4.8.10=0v

isl it get in short , this must be due a bloody cap , or a leeaky FET .. start measuring components on the system charger part , and you will find the culprit . by the way if you have IPA , spray on the board meanwhile is charging , and specially when the ISL start i nshort , spray the IPA on both sides , but each one at the time , and chek were you will notice instant dry on the components , it might help you saving sometimes finding the bad components (dont work always , but worth a try )

                                    Re: toshiba A200 la3481p

I have fixed about 6 Toshiba a200 laptops. All of them needed the nec/token oem128 replaced. As it dies it causes problems like losing power for no reason, losing power when you are running off the battery then plug the charger in and other variations of that.

Here is a link to a youtube video of the best way I have seen to remove the chip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJRLOw0-NsY

I replaced it with 4 of these

                                    http://au.rs-online.com/web/p/tantal...372D3238333226

I have included some before and after pics. Note the 4 caps don't fit so you can try and angle them like I did or you could try doing it dead bug soldering style.

Other people smarter than me worked this all out and I think a lot of the info I got from Bad Caps.

                                    Hope this helps

That is with Toshiba A300/L300/L300D not A200, and it's a well known issue. Different laptop, different problem here.
