How are you guys replacing the new leds hot air or soldering iron as ive read a few threads and it seems overheating them whilst fitting shortens the life of them.

But they can last longer with the brightness switched down on them replacing them all is a huge pain and costly too. Ive had very good luck but just replacing the bad ones and turning the Bl down.

When I did mine I heated the strip from underneath and when the solder on the pads melted I quickly dropped the led on and using tweezers positioned it. I think that minimized the time the led was subjected to the heat.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

This is how i do mine at the minute but have been reading a few threads where people are using soldering irons.

I remove the old bad LED one by using diagonal cutter to crush the white body to expose the two metal tabs then I used flux and add solder to remove the old tabs, clean up the board, add flux and hand solder on the new LEDs

I know this is an older thread, but Budm, how hard was it to get to the actual LED strips? I've been reading and was under the impression is model TV might not have good solder on the strips. Am I wrong on this? Now that I got the TV up and running, I was going to open the actual screen and try resoldering the LEDs, but from the pics you shared, it almost looks like this isn't needed....

Also, in the power supply picture ( https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1472948823 ) What's the purpose of that right top most electrolytic capacitor? Does that need to be low ESR?

                          Thanks!

Not too much luck with TVs this week. Got this model. 12V on PS connector and BON goes low when power button is pressed but no backlight. Opened up TV and found 2 bad LEDs. Replaced with LG-compatible 3528 3V ones (strip looks like those used on LG models, LEDs are very cheap on Aliexpress). Plugged in without panel and backlights all came on. When I was putting the panel back on, I snagged a tab bond and ripped it completely off.
