I've got an issue with my Z820 that I'm having trouble working out the root cause of.

More often than not it'll turn onand fans will blast for a moment before stopping and I'll get 4 beeps that will repeat forever (at least the power light will keep flashing).

What I can't understand is sometimes it'll just work and I can use it all day but other times it'll boot then reboot then reboot and 4 beeps for the rest of the day. Sometimes it'll work fine from cold for hours, sometimes it'll do the 4 beeps from cold.

Another oddity is the fans. Before the 4 beeps...

Dear all, I found this forum and this is my last hope. I had a problem with BIOS update though Windows Update - it was stuck for an hour and I decided to restart. Then it bricked. The reason to update was, I had no video on my panorama display. I tried to find a BIOS on my own, but it seems that Lenovo doesn't provide a complete file, only the BIOS section. Is there any chance someone could repair it? I did a backup from the chip, attached. I also tried using another BIOS, slightly different revision. Yeah I know it's not portable at all… but people with BIOS hang over here.
Looking for the BIOS update R01-B5S1 to enable support for 2GB sticks and newer Opteron for W1100z/W2100z.
It's available on the "Sun Java Workstation W2100z/W1100z Supplemental ISO 2.5" but it's nowhere to be found on the web and requires a support contract to download from Oracle… for a completely worthless 14 years old machine…
Would be wonderful if anyone had that saved somewhere or could download it from Oracle.

I've already desoldered and dumped the broken BIOS, over on the "level1techs" forums someone already took a look at it and sadly couldn't fix it either 😥 Still grateful of them taking a look however!
