I've only blocked the right side clocks etc but then I get a blank screen. If I block none I get the result in the picture. This is with the VGH taped on the LVDS cable (there's no resistor on that board) and the signal jumped to the panel PCB test point as in the original post. In this case, anywhere from 1k to 100k works but I think the panel must have just now died

This TV was working ok after taping it for about 6 months but started doing the boot loop again so I removed the tape and tried this out which worked but now get the attached.
Tried re-adding the tape (literally just blocked all control lines to the right side of the panel) but then get a completely blank screen.
Bit bummed out, is the panel just toast now? I've reseated the ribbons but same thing....

Sorry, I'd seen other threads like this with schematics attached so assumed. Been a year or more since I reviewed the rules!
Doesn't seem I can update the main post now so here's the link:

Were the schematics removed? Pretty sure I got them in another thread here..

Dell XPS 9550 LA-C36 Won't start
Ok, please forgive me if I'm missing troubleshooting steps, it's been a while since I looked at a laptop and this is a lot more complicated than the last one I looked at.
Got this as faulty, fault was described as a blinking power light.
It initially didn't do anything other than as described, found the 95829 had a number of bridged pins (maybe as a toubleshooting step?) So cleared those and this is the current status:
Plugging in, battery charges and holds a charge
Battery indicator is responsive and functional
D + power runs the display test...

Re: A1297 macbook 2011 Won't charge
They all seem fine and without the battery connected I'm seeing the correct charging voltage.
I've checked coconut battery and though the battery hasn't locked itself, the capacity is less than 4% so I'm just thinking it's a crap battery. Oh well....

Re: A1297 macbook 2011 Won't charge
I should add the machine does run off the power supply and did also run off the battery until it depleted (now on about 7%).
Did all the usual pram and smc reset stuff

A1297 macbook 2011 Won't charge
Got a 17" macbook pro which I suspect has been damaged by a charger with an iffy magsafe connector (3rd party).
The battery reports correctly in macos and windows, shows manufacture details etc, condition normal, health status good but always says not charging.
Magsafe led is always green, never orange.
Without battery connected I get a voltage at the battery power pins, with it I only see the battery's voltage. I assume this means the SMC is preventing charging?
Not sure where to start. The bad power adapter was disposed of, the...

Re: Sony kd-55xe8596 weird issue
Ok update, I went into service mode (display, 5, vol up, power) and it actually displayed a (glitchy) image. Turns out it was in initial setup mode.
Got all the way throught initial setup and to the home screen with lots got glitching and occasional freezing. Now turned off at the plug, turned back on, back to the same pattern no matter what I do. The green areas seem to have the ghost of the menu stuck in it though which is new. Guess that is the RAM which now makes me think maybe that's the issue? The RAM? I think there's one lonely...

Sony kd-55xe8596 weird issue
Hi all,
I've got the above tv and it's displaying the strangest issue I think I've seen (see attached).
The TVs backlight does what I'd expect, you can hear the menu when it boots up, but the display is the same garbled mess regardless what it's doing.
Does anyone have any ideas where to start? My gut says main board but maybe tcon?
More often than not, the blocks have straight edges and the pattern you see on the picture that overlays the white and green moves out from the middle up and down. I can upload a video if it helps...

Re: Asus GL703GM short
It's the same model. Since that quote though, a lot has happened and the laptop now stays on until it's turned off. There's a GPU issue but that's for another day and doesn't affect general use.
The battery charging is making me a little crazy though.
The battery mosfets get 19v but put out 8v. It's just weird. What I need to know at this point is, should they be putting out 15v as this is what the battery is?

Re: Asus GL703GM short
Its a BQ24780S.
None of the mosfets in the charging circuit are short to any other pins, all in the megs.
Coukd it be the IC? I did readings on the usual pins a few pages back and all seemed normal.

Re: Asus GL703GM short
Ok, so the battery is 15v yet this laptop is only putting out 8v on the battery connector, that's not right is it. What could I look at to see what's wrong here?

Re: Asus GL703GM short
Got MATS working, there's a UEFI image out there which works great, just be aware you'll always get 32 or so errors on the VRAM test.
Found the chip I'd messed up and reflowed it again, back to my random little glitches and the card is once again working in windows.
Decided to look at the battery situation again. I notice the charge is going in cycles, 8v, 0v, 1v, 0v, repeat. Is that normal? The battery did also have a blown fuse, gave it a tiny blob of low melt solder, still won't charge. I even tried to jump start the process...

Re: Asus GL703GM short
Didn't work, shocker. Did try a very stupid thing and reflowed the VRAM, now it's much worse. Bios corruption and windows disables the 1060. So may be time to learn to reball BGA lol
I did want to run Nvidia MATS to see which ram I'd fucked up but of course, this laptop can only boot efi

Re: Asus GL703GM short
A bit of an update on this.
I didn't recieve the PWM IC for this yet, though frankly I don't know how important it is, temps seem fine and fans still do their job. It will get installed regardless.
I've got a "proper" Asus PSU for it now, the quotes are because Asus can't seem to make up their mind what barrel connector to use and the PSU with the pin it turns out is just a standard barrel jack setup with an unusually large inner diameter. The pin just "locates" it. Anyway, adapted the PSU so now it's receiving...

Re: Asus GL703GM short
I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a UP1905AMAB or equivalent temp sensor?

Re: Asus GL703GM short
Never lol. To be honest, what I've already invested plus their work, I could probably buy two of these things
I've located the fan issue anyway regarding my snafu. PU9001 (UP1905AMA8) seems to be pulling it's little circuit down. The 100k resistor that I shorted is reading 160ohm but when I remove PU9001, it's 100k again. It's taken about 4 hours to find this and verify the cause. What a time consuming mistake. I need sharper probes!...
