BIOS HP 280 G9
Hi Folks ! Could someone please clean me up this bios? I had to change the motherboard's PCH and now it's not recognizing the nvme!... -
Lotas, I removed the current sense resistor. I had assumed it was 100% open because of how badly it was burned but apparently it was not. After removing it, I measured 280 ohms between these pins in the photo as you explained. Is this better news?
btw, the motor it drives seems ok. I have two of these mini split units so I took the board out of the good unit and put it in the unit that had this bad board, and it seems to be working normal....Last edited by mitsu2k; 07-07-2025, 07:18 PM.Leave a comment:

Probed all pins between PSU and LED driver board
pin 4 = Vdrv On = 3.067v
pin 7,8,15,16,20,21,22 = GND = -0.011v
pin 9,10,11,12,13,14 = Vdrv = 69v
pin 17 = B13V = 12.83v
pin 19 = FB = 2.139v
FB signal looks like goes through side B of the LV358G op amp (IC 280), then to the main board connector (CN 250) and the Samsung chip nearest that connector (IC 2100)Leave a comment:

EL432/EL532 Lenovo Ideapad S340-15API
Hello I have a Lenovo Ideapad S340-15API
with EL432/EL532 board on the test bench.Enable signal not present!
PU402(+5VALWP)=0V
PU402(+5VLP)=4,9V
PU401(+3VALWP)=0V
PU401(3VLP)=0V
PU401(5V_3V_EN)= Pin 9 =0V=MOhms
PU402(5V_3V_EN)= Pin 12 =0V=100kOhms
No shorted caps found in this area
PR409 4.7 I had to desolder it was burnt out and had 280 ohms
What can be the reason I find the error simply do you have any ideas?...Last edited by breid; 01-12-2023, 01:50 PM. -
Hello,
I'm new to this forum i found about in the search fixing the faulty bios of my fathers laptop. I'm not really an expert insofar that i'm not familiar with technical details en detail etc., but it is enough, to try to solve some problems by myself relying on information already in forums and so on. I could send the laptop to a mech but rather I will try it myself to save some bucks and learn something new and how to do it (also the laptop was very cheap, it could be cheaper to buy a new one instead to bring it to a mech). I was sat in front of a computer relatively early comprehend...Leave a comment:

Well, what hardware are you running on this PSU (PC components?)
A lot of modern GPUs since around the nVidia RTX series and AMD RX6k/7k series can sometimes power-spike quite a bit above their nominal rated TDP.
If you have an older power-heavy system, like a Core 2 Quad with a more beefy old GPU (GTX260-280, GTX460-480, GTX560-580, and etc.), try that on this PSU and see how it behaves. Chances are, it probably won't have any issues, as these older systems do not have silly power spikes like modern hardware does.
The only other possible explanation I can think of for...Leave a comment:

So I have desoldered the resistor and found that it really is faulty (shows 1,6 kOhm).
I measured the two pads :
pad 1 : ~10,5 kOhm
pad 2: ~280 ohm.
I also managed to find an identical, working resistor on another board and it is now soldered.
I'm guessing that this isn't the root cause? Resistor don't fail just like that?...Leave a comment:
