now the 20V voltage can enter across R340 by removing Q79 and adding R504. on the power button there is also a voltage of 3.3V. But still can't be switched on. after analysis, the -PWRSHUTDOWN signal only appears shortly after the PSU is connected, after that it disappears. does that indicate if the ThinkEngine chip is faulty? Has anyone experienced it?

Hi.

1) Remove all power -> meter in resistance mode (lowest scale) -> check the resistance to ground of VINT20. What is the reading ? Also post the meter scale.

If the meter reports '1' or 'OL' (over limit) -> switch to a higher meter scale.

2) Check the first 2 mosfets for defects using the usual mosfet resistance checks.

With NO power. Meter in resistance mode.

check the resistance of each mosfet:

source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)

Hi, I have a issue for a Thinkpad W540 after pach of my dump bios to remove password
the laptop make a 2 X 5 Bips sound, then nothing! After a reflash again with dump bios working but askme to put password. Please I need a good pached bios. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

On the 5th pin of the element is understated resistance. R<1 Ohm. Please say where is this conclusion connected?...

Hi everyone,

i got a used Lenovo Thinkpad W540 where it seems that a Bios update went wrong.
After pressing the startbutton the lenovo Logo appears but nothing else happens!

I have then read out the two bios eproms with a ch341a and tried to repair the bios file according to this video : https://youtu.be/IqHAFk_Oy9Q

After flashing and reassembly the laptop starts (and beeps) until the following screen: Pic ...118

Press f1 to display the following screen: Pic ...059

I do not know that password !I don't even know...

Brace yourself, this is going to be a long read!
To answer my own question above yes 1.77v is normal for the Fully Integrated Voltage Regulator (FIVR).

I started looking for a replacement mainboard.
Now as I said earlier it had already been replaced so I didn't know the originals FRU number.
Therefore I had to go by visual look of the boards on eBay, I found one that looked exactly the same which I bought.
It arrived in a flimsy cardboard box.
Inside it lay loose in a US postal service paper...

These models listed below are using SMSC MEC1633L to store the Supervisor password. Maybe Lenovo will come around with another chip for the next models, so we will update the list with all those we tested already.

Unlocked so far (all submodels included): T440, T450, T540, X1 carb gen2 and gen3, X240, X250, W540, W541, W550, Helix gen3.
